Always, I've been programmed. I worked in a grocery store when I was 16 where secret shoppers ran amok and we were given ratings constantly. We had to look EVeryone we came in contact with in the eye and say, "HI! HOW ARE YOU? CAN I HELP YOU?" If a cat walked in the door we'd have to greet them, shake their paw, and show them to the cat food. Haven't really been able to shake it off.

I think this going too far for Britney. This is going into the Courtney Love zone of weird antics. And to get married as a joke? That's just making fun of the institution of marriage. That document is real, even if she is planning on having it annulled, wtf? If it's a stunt to get her name up there again, I don't think it's funny. If it's a joke? I don't think it's funny either. You can go too far with things. If all this is true, then even if she was bombed, that's just plain irresponsible. A hotel bellman walked her down the aisle. But before you make any plans to send wedding gifts, a source close to the pop star insists it was all a joke that went too far, and that Spears is already making plans to annul the marriage. Says someone close to Spears: "I don't know what's going through her mind." Spears's husband -- at least for the time being -- is named Jason Allen Alexander, and, like the singer, is from Kentwood, La. The two tied the knot early Saturday morning in Las Vegas at the Little White Wedding Chapel on the Strip, sources tell PEOPLE. The wedding plan was apparently hatched Friday night while Spears and Alexander were partying at Ghostbar, the hip club in the Palms Casino Hotel. The club's bouncers got word that Spears wanted a limo. One of the hotel's lime-green limos was provided, being driven by a hotel bellman, who shuttled the couple to the Little White Wedding Chapel, a famous quick-hitch place where everybody from Dixie Chick Natalie Maines to Bruce and Demi have tied the knot. Chapel staff told the couple that they couldn't get married without a license, so the pair was taken by the limo to the Clark County Marriage Bureau office in the downtown Las Vegas courthouse at some point after 12:30 a.m. on Saturday. They applied for and were granted the marriage license, then rode back to the chapel, where they were married. Spears wore jeans and a baseball cap. Alexander had on a casual shirt. The bellman walked Spears down the aisle. There were no friends or family in attendance. The whole thing was videotaped by the chapel, and Spears has been showing the world's craziest wedding video to friends. "I don't even know if she loves him," says a source. The honeymoon, such as it was, took place back at a luxury suite at the Palms immediately after the wedding. Then, Saturday night, Spears dined with her manager, her brother, Palms owner George Maloof and a couple of friends at a hotel steakhouse. Little is known about Alexander. A source says that he and Spears were childhood friends who recently hooked up -- then hitched up. They had spent New Year's Eve together at the hotel's Rain nightclub, then retired to the suite. Spears released her fourth album, "In the Zone," last November. It debuted at No. 1 on the album charts. Her concert tour begins in San Diego on March 2.

I find the marriage stuff a bit hard to swallow myself because she's very close with her family, you wouldn't expect her to do something like that with none of them present, and the media tracks this chick from sun up to sun down, I don't think it's possible for her to have been having some ultra-secret relationship with some good ol' boy from back home without, well, ME knowing about it, avid reader of US Weekly that I am. And to get married in such a cheesy way? And at this point in her life/career? On the other hand, stars, esp ones this big, and this young, are known for making huge decisions like this on a moments notice, for being flighty, for going with their hearts, for wanting to avoid mass press at all costs... Or maybe it IS just another way to generate press. Whatever. I'm still jealous of my best friend, no matter what I know that she was there dancing with some tall dorky dude, new husband or not. How I wish my ex-roommate had invested in a camera phone.

OMFG Okay, I have some insider update to THIS story. One of my best friends is in Las Vegas right now for a post-New Years trip, he decided to go to the Palms tonight because it's where alot of the younger crowd goes to party. There was a line when he got there so he swaggered up to the bouncer and slipped him $30, the bouncer was overly generous and hooked him up with a VIP pass, whole 9 yards, pretty sweet deal. He calls me from inside to tell me, "I'm at Rain, the Real World place!" cause he knows I used to be a Real World freak, even though he thinks it's gay, so I told him the news about Britney. He tells me that everyone around Vegas is buzzing about Britney being there but he's not sure about the marriage thing. WELL, he just called me 5 minutes ago and says, "Meliss, I'm chillin' in VIP, Britney Spears and about 10 people are hear dancing a few feet away from me." WTF! He says she has on a super slutty white dress that's slashed (? i think, the phone was breaking up) and that she looks fiiiiiiine (he loves Britney). I asked him if it looked like she was with a dude and he said she was dancing with a "kinda tall, dorky looking dude with streaky hair." So there ya have it, you get it here first, folks. This is SO WEIRD, my (ex)roommate is in VIP with Britney Spears right now. Why the hell am I here? I was supposed to GO on this trip, too!
