I hope you got enough Kleenex in store, you are gonna need it. I was kinda skeptical to be honest. The guy makes almost as much as the entire Marlins roster to begin with. The Marlins would only have taken him without having to pay for his monstrous contract AND some assurance they could get him to sign on for a bargain at seasons end. And dont forget, the Marlins are campaigning for a new stadium that the city doesnt wanna pay for...long shot by any stretch of the imagination. The Dodgers are the winners in this mega deal, they desperately need a big bat in the lineup coz they cant hit for shit. Pirates fared well in the deal coz they got good young players. I wanna meet the imbecile in the Pirates organization that authorized the deal for Xavier Nady to the Yankees. They got fleeced like a sheep at a slaughterhouse. Mark Texeira to the Angels might be one of the steals of the season. The guy can flat out hit. The Angels might win the whole damn thing again this year unless they self destruct.

......If I have to make an assessment, I would say the patriots defense choked when the lights came on. That game was theirs for the taking, no question about it...(cost me some serious cash)....The giants D came to play more than any phase of both teams....in summary, they won the game. Funny thing is, the giants might not make the playoffs next year but the patriots are almost a given to be a contender. For the new england fans, nothing to hang your heads for, 18-1 is a great season, we might not see it again in our lifetime. Fuck, useless pro-bowl coming up in a few hours.... zzzzzzzzzzz

Well said Kfitz73, it was all a ruse to get him off their payroll without looking bad. And, its also true that true yankee fans are in limbo: what if the yankees dont achieve near the success under Joe Torre..then what?? Randy Levine (the president) has just dug his own PR grave. If this team doesnt achieve the projected success, he has to answer to the part owners and fans. I thinbk he's getting a free pass. Since he took office, the team hasnt wont any World Series championships. I'm sure he will chalk it to "new manager" to buy himself time. I honestly think him and the Tampa regime should re-evaluate themselves and step down if not get a pay cut. Good for Joe to turn it down. This all reeks of posturing.
