  1. illmeasures presents

    OUTLET TECHNO TUESDAZE

The longest running techno event in Chicago, featuring the best techno djs/producers the midwest has to offer.

This Tuesday, 10/14, OUTLET welcomes detroit techno hero:

    TWONZ

    [hijacked records, detroit]

Techno is the soul of Detroit and Twonz is at the heart of Detroit Techno. As a DJ, his style is unmatched. He's taken his influences from the world's acclaimed turntable masters and molded them into an awe inspiring blend of turntablism and programming mastery. His hands never stop moving, gliding nimbly and accurately across the tables and mixers taking crowds on an intense journey that makes you feel like you're in a nightclub in Blade Runner or Neuromancer.

His Sets are best described as the audio equivalent of a one-night stand with a super model. They build intensely from beginning to end, full of changing tempos and styles rising to thumping peaks then gropping back into electro-flavored holding patterns.

Each tease pulls you down to a groove bob and then when you least expect it hammers back with a pounding resonance that causes the body to shake and pound to perfect rhythm. The beats ebb and flow with increasing intensity, building to a massive crescendo that reflects the most inherently primal elements in our psyche.

Opening the night, illmeasures own resident DJ:

    NATHAN BALLARD

This emerging Chicago talent brings his own flavor of the hard and tracky techno not often found this side of the Atlantic. Beginning his DJ career in the Detroit Area in the late 90’s Nathan has moved to a more European influenced style of music as his career has progressed. If you like your techno hard and fast, Nathan will not leave you disappointed. Just remember to bring a helmet.

  3. OUTLET TECHNO TUESDAZE

Chicago's longest running techno event. Taking it to the next level in September.

Tuesday, September 9th illmeasures welcomes producer & DJ:

    ADAM JAY

[PRIMATE, AZURE, SUBLUNARY ARTIST MANAGEMENT - INDIANAPOLIS]

with illmeasures dj SINJIN warming up the decks in the early slot...

    about ADAM JAY

DJing at the age of 16 in 1997, Adam’s skills as a performer were quickly developed. Performing at the historic East Town Theatre (in its heyday hosting the likes of Hendrix, Joplin, and James Brown) in Detroit on his 18th birthday marked the true beginning of an illustrious career as a DJ. Live Pa’s naturally followed with the request of a live performance alongside Marco Carola and Funk D’Void in 2001.

Azure Records was formed in 1998 by Adam Jay as an expression of funk and soul within techno music by various American artists, unknown and well known. Outside of Azure, Adam’s debut 12†output was heard on Placktown Sounds #23 “Ornithopterâ€. An immediate classic in the global techno community, this release paved the way for the timeless EP on Primevil, “The Wrathâ€. Other releases soon followed on Sweden’s Zync Records, and England’s Primate Recordings. Chromagnon Recordings was then formed by Adam Jay as an outlet for more up front and menacing tracks. When DJ T-1000 was asked about Adam’s recent output on such labels the response was simply “Damn!â€

As a DJ and producer, Adam was consulted as a resource for the book “A Study of Rhythm and Meter in Electronic Dance Music†by Mark Butler. “The Punish Techno Show†radio program in Dublin, Ireland has also requested exclusive live performances from Adam for broadcast. Other accomplishments include a sponsorship by the German company Music and More (MAM) as thanks for the exceptional use and promotion of their products, and the licensing of “The Wrath†on DJ C-1’s Intec Records mixed compilation, “Shifting Gearsâ€.
