  4. Saturday, Sept. 17th at Abbasso Plate Tectonics Presents TechMix featuring: Punisher (Seismic Records, Detroit) Jamie Tyler (Plate Tectonics, Cleveland) + More TBA. We've been wanting to bring Michelle "Punisher" Herrmann in for quite a while, and after hearing her set at Fuse-In (Detroits Electronic Music Festival) we decided we had to make it happen. While inspired by Swedish and German Techno, Punisher maintains connected to the Detroit style. She's shown herself to be an incredibly talented producer, through her own label, Seismic Records; as well as DJ headlining alongside other talented DJ's throughout the world such as Richie Hawtin, Mistress Barbara, Ben Simms, and Marco Carola. Michelle will be gracing Cleveland with a live PA/DJ hybrid performance. Expect a night of innovative techno, from minimal to stomping, and possibly even some drum and bass thrown in for good measure (she played some live at Fuse:in). This show will be in the $5 range 21+ 10pm onward Abbasso 1222 Prospect Cleveland,Ohio 216.566.7278 http://www.platetectonics.org http://www.seismicdetroit.com http://www.abbassolounge.com

  6. Advance I know.....but anyone know of anything going on or being planned for the Friday or Saturday of April 1st and 2nd. We'll be in town then and I was just curious. Techno/Techouse, would be preferable.
  7. That's be swell. It's an idea we tossed around actually so who knows. Been hearing nothing but good things about Stadius. I think Cleveland can handle this show----if not, oh wells----everyone else from out of town will.

  9. Saturday, October 9 JAY TRIPWIRE, A.K.A. MR. BARCODE (Northern Lights, Gourmet / Los Angeles) @ Wish Nightclub 621 Johnson Court Cleveland, Ohio 44115 (Just off of West 6th in the Warehouse District) 216-902-WISH with Damon Havill and Jamie Tyler and more guest(s) T.B.A. [This will be a very affordable show, probably in the range of $5] I believe this is his first Ohio appearance. ARTIST BIO: Jay Tripwire has definitely earned his place among the dance music community and his hard work is not going unrecognized, Jay’s Djing schedule has exploded, and he has had the opportunity to play in some of the places that were once just a dream. Growing up in the heart of downtown Vancouver, Canada, Jay is no stranger to the grit of urban parties. His great sense of musical curiosity and his sly mischievous character, has lead him to his present life as a DJ/Producer. Currently, Jay is very busy producing in the studio, signing 1 or 2 releases a month, and has had the opportunity to do a lot of remixes. His music has been picked up by some of the most respected labels and thus, Jay has appeared on charts and top 10's from the most well regarded names in the industry. Recently, Jay's music has been getting numerous reviews in, and attention from, such magazines as DJ MAG, MUZIK, URB, IDJ, MIXER, XLR8R and VICE and has been licensed to many mix cd compilations. Jay Tripwire continues his aim to expose listeners to quality music through DJ’ing and producing. He is presently building and molding his own brainchild, the label “NORTHERN LIGHTS,†which is the headquarters for the sound he knows best. Jay’s latest endeavors include a very hectic dj schedule and the start of a new label called SPACED OUT. *****FYI For out-of-towners--make arrangements a.s.a.p, most downtown hotels are within walking or cab distance of W. 6th. ****
  10. My boyfriend was just out there not too long ago. I'll ask and try to get back to you. I know he went into a record shop, told him what records represented what he liked and got referred to an awesome underground club (I think that was in Munich though) There seems to be something most any day going on there (esp. fantastic techno!)
  11. Ah...less than 2 weeks away. If you're into techno and techouse try not to miss this. Damon Havill and Jamie Tyler will be laying down opening sets as well, so expect a little minimal glitchiness in addition to the tec and house vibes.

  15. FRIDAY, AUGUST 6th Plate Tectonics presents: DENNIS ROGERS (Arc/NYC/112 crew) and guests @Wish Nightclub 621 Johnson Court (Just of W. 6th in the Warehouse District) 216-902-9474 (This show should be less than $10---watch for updates for final $) 21+ please. to join the Plate Tectonics e-mail list send a message to plate_tec@yahoo.com ARTIST BIO :: Music has always been a big part of Dennis Rodgers life. Always one to actively collect whatever sort of music he was feeling at the moment, it wasn't until he reluctantly fell upon house music 4 years ago when it took over. During the next few years he developed his sound out of the now notorious after hour sessions with the rest of the 112 Crew (Bill Patrick, Matt Licata and Tom Amoroso). It is from these sessions where his talent was discovered and the bookings began to roll in. Dennis has come up quickly in NYC playing along side DJs such as Danny Tenaglia, Danny Howells, James Zabiela, Funk D'Void, Grant Dell, Casa del sol, Jay Tripwire and more. Dennis and the 112 crew held a prestigious residency at Arc NYC until its recent closing, and are current residents at Fluid in Philadelphia. Taking influences from DJs such as Tenaglia, Terry Francis, and Ritchie Hawtin. Dennis values these influences but strives to push the sound forward "I find no reason in recycling what has been done" he says "I constantly try to find new music to keep myself interested and therefore the crowd." With a respect for the venue and the vibe of the night always evident, he finds a way to direct his sounds at the head but move the hips. The ability to find completely unique, techy, quirky, deep house and techno has become his trademark. Dennis recently turned his attention to production joining partners Hisham Samawi and Brendan Benke as The Dirty Gringos. Their first project "Cowbell" has been instantly successful. It's been played by Danny Tenaglia, Danny Howells, Lee Buridge and recently gained the #2 spot in URB Magazine for Best new track of the WMC 2003. On the heels of all of this success Dennis looks forward to the future. "Everything seems to be falling into place." The music has become a part of him and he looks forward to sharing it with who ever will listen. Mixes available at 112crew.com
  16. Jeff Samuel (poker flat, trapez, lo-fi stereo, 7th city, Karloff/Seattle) with Mike Salamon (On the Floor/Columbus) Derek Johonson (On the Floor/Columbus) Damon Havill (Plate Tectonics/Abbasso) March 5th 9:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. $6 before 10:00, $8 after Abbasso is located at 1222 Prospect Road, Cleveland 216-566-7278 more info: http://www.geocities.com/clevetechno/jeffsamuel.html A Cleveland native, now residing in Seattle, Jeff is the new face of techno, stepping onto the international stage with his unique brand of minimal yet melodic grooves. With artists such as Ricardo Villalobos and Michael Mayer remixing his work and DJ's such as Richie Hawtin, Sven Vaeth, Josh Wink, Timo Maas, and Steve Bug charting his records, it is quite apparent that Jeff is a key player in techno and the subgenres that surround it. Drawing from his early experiences with Titonton Duvante and the Columbus "ele mental" collective, Jeff Samuel is also very much at home behind the decks. It’s often possible to catch Jeff using some of his unique trick-oriented elements of mixing (Detroit style), which is something he attributes to some of his influential favorites such as Derrick May and Jeff Mills. With a full European tour slated for Spring and plans to continue to push his quality sound further – with upcoming releases on Spectral and Morris Audio – Jeff Samuel proves he is one to watch.

  19. My GOd would I love to go to Italy...esp Rome.
  20. I've been in both Motion and Mannequins WITH family....so that should tell you thery're not exactly a "clubbing experience" ...if you don't have a disney pass or something that includes PI clubs don't spend the extra money. They're really imo just a place to grab a quick drink or something. or places for moms/dads or little sisters to pretend they're clubbing lol.. Motion is strictly a high-school/college brew fest mainstream dance nightmare. ich. Mannequins bills itself as more techno-oriented, but the mixing skills personally suck--and the tracks played are OOOOLLLLDD. Saving grace though...they did used to have some cool dancers. If you're STUCK in Disney/Orlando...the best bet is to chek to HOB schedule....there might be something good while you are there. Honestly it's not that happening...the biggest event I ran into last time I was down was Icey playing at the Virgin Megstore----scary.
  21. Jbunny you rock! This should be fun.
  22. And how often does one get to hear an amazing Dj in a intimate letting like Abbasso.... ;) See ya soon Ms. Headrush...and crew.
