    Nah, it's completely different. It's a Morris County sort of crowd (a little goofy in terms of dress--more preppie, etc) instead of the guido crowd you'd get in the other places. That being said, to be honest, I'd rather go to Jimmy's than the other places because at least I can get ready for a more chill type of night mentally. If I want to be surrounded by a more "hardcore" type of crowd, I'd rather just go to the city than the other places you mentioned.

    Don't expect Studio 54, but overall it won't be a bad night. It'll be a B or B-minus ;)

    Someclown puts it pretty well, maybe not a total A list Deko type crowd but not bad. Jimmys has good variety a progressive & Vocal house room, a hip hop room and a 80's room(while some clubs try to do this all in one room). For people who haven't been to Jimmys in a while its a lot different.

    I was there last nite....and the whole medal detector thing was a crock of shit...i saw guys go threw.. beeped... and the bouncer asked them ohh do u have keys? the guys responded ohh yea the bouncers didnt pat them down or anything...can u say falses sense of security???

    ENERGY???the only energy i saw was from the light fixtures....

    Box dancers:BUTT ASS UGLY!!!! can we say disease infested

    all you under aged drinkers go to VELVET every friday and get hammered....they give you your drinks in the same glasses as the alcoholic glasses...but keep in mind the cops are down the road waiting to pull your drunk under aged asses over....

    the bar was more packed than the dance floor.... hey was that the DJ's first night outta his basement....if so congrats... if not go back to your basement..you suxed.....

    ive been goin to clubs for years from manhattan..to jersey....to miami and ive never been more dissapointed in a grand opening....keep in mind VELVET this is as good as it gets...

    For all of you in agreement ill see ya at JOEYS...Studio...Circa....Spirit...Crobar...Avalon...SG...any where but Velvet....

    My sister's ex b/f was a bouncer there...club night wasnt so hot but he said that they did really well on Latin night (Sat), so maybe hip hop will do good as well.

    your right it did'nt work the first time around, the place is ran totally different now, with a much more fun party in store. The orginal management tried to have an older dressed up crowd, which did not work. Now its 18 for ladies prices have been lowerd and the Ballroom will be a big party, body shots, bartenders pouring shots off the bar, contests Giveaways etc.. The ballroom is now a mix of hip house reggae etc, Velvets ballroom is one of the sweetest rooms around.

    Velvet in Fairfield is Re opening on Friday Febuary 25th, for the first time under its new management. All concepts have changed, its now 18 to party for the Ladies and the Main Ballroom features a party style mix of house and mainstream hip hop/reggae/reggaeton. Velvets layout is beautiful and will house this new party well. The lounge area is now just that, an area to relax and for VIP service. more info www.velvetl.com

    exactly my point, people bring me mixed reggaton cds too, i got no clue whats going, but a lot it is hot and girls go NUTS. I really want to find out more about these tracks and artists.
