  1. Here's the quick info: Blue Room, THIS Wednesday (11/26), NO COVER, 2 DJs upstairs and OPEN TABLES downstairs. More info below. Hope to see you there! Later, Barrett Brendan Benke (Native Theory, Dirty Gringos, Subliminal Sessions - NYC) Brendan Benke launched his DJ career in 1997 and he soon found himself behind the decks at many of New York's famed nightspots, including large capacity venues Arc, Centro-Fly, and Discotheque. Brendan has shared the bill with house legends and rising talent such as Erick Morillo, Doc Martin, Pete Moss, Mark Farina and Joeski, and is a resident at Subliminal Sessions. In addition to being a DJ, Brendan is a member of the production trio Dirty Gringos. Their debut production, "Cowbell," has spread to charts at an impressive pace, having reached the influential hands and playlists of James Zabiela, Danny Tenaglia, Danny Howells, John Digweed, Lee Burridge, Saeed & Palash, and Tyler Stadius. In their June issue, Urb Magazine selected the track as one of 'The Very Best of Miami '03'. People are taking notice of his talent as Brendan continues to make an impact both locally and around the country. Barrett Atwood (BrokenSoul – DC) Provider of those Sick Tribal Beatz! 2. Yeah, I'm thinking Nerve on 11/14 for sure. Thanks much! Any other suggestions?
  3. Very informative and encouraging! Thanks for the 411. And I wasn't bashing your locals, just comparing them to the rest of those bookings. You'd have to agree its a different tier of (known) talent. Though calling Markus Schultz and Oscar G "locals" is kind of like us calling Deep Dish and Saeed & Palash "locals". I didn't (and still don't) know who is playing on the Allstars night. I just assumed it was local DJs. And as a local DJ myself, I'm all for supporting them. I'm just looking for the best beats for my vacation! PS - on further review, the 24th is the lamest night! LOL
  4. Yeah, well, I'm sure the Miami locals are great and all but when travelling to Miami and going to Space, you expect more than just the Allstars!
  5. So is Space closed or NOT??? All these events were not popping up a week ago (or so) when the closing was announced. I care b/c I'm going to be in SoBe on the 11/15 wknd (yes, the lamest event on this list...)
  6. Yeah, happy belated bday and stuff!
  7. And I missed Deep Dish. Damn, I'm going home and packing my shit...
  8. Thanks to all who came out. There is something across the river!
  9. And the Red Sox respond...
  10. Awww, I'm sorry Tini. I should've turned on the orange text. We all know you are quite the Dancing Queen.
  11. A Ballad of the Bronx, Sung in the Year 2003 (by David Ray, with apologies and credit to Ernest L. Thayer) It looked extremely good for the Boston nine that mid-October day; The score stood five to two, with but two innings left to play. And, when Nomar hugged the tired Pedro who looked a little lame, A pallor wreathed the features of the New York patrons of the game. Still none got up to go, for they’d seen Chicago’s mess, And with that hope which springs eternal within the human breast, They thought: "Let’s put the Red Sox in a bind, let’s make them pass the test.” The Moose, he did his job and mowed the Cowboys down. The Sox bullpen must do the same to move on toward the crown. What’s this? Why it’s Pedro striding boldly to the hill. “He’s been there for us all year long”, thought Grady. “I’m giving him the pill.” The Sox Nation held its breath as Johnson made an out. Five more to get and on we go; we still can win this bout. But the next batter’s name was Jeter and he would not be denied. He battled hard and hit a pitch and to the wall it flied. OK, no panic. We’ve got relievers champing at the bit. Let’s bring in Timlin for the frame; they won’t get a hit. But Little does not make a move, he’s sticking with his ace. Bernie Williams strikes a blow and there’s hope on Derek’s face. Now here comes Little to the mound, he’s got to make a change. But no, he has a little talk and does something really strange. He leaves our tired starter in to face the lefty from the East. The painful, bleating sound from fans is like a wounded beast. What are you thinking? What is your plan? How could you do this thing? Pedro’s pitching has been the best, but he’s plainly tiring. “Take him out. Please take him out.” The Red Sox nation screams. But it will only happen that way in their fitful dreams. The rest is too raw to recount on this the day that follows. A double by Matsui and the weak, but fatal Jorge hit that sent us to the gallows. The extra frames held little hope for Rivera was outstanding. Too much to watch, too hard to not; a drama, sad, commanding. Wake’s knuckler fluttered not enough; the result was all too plain. We slumped, we swore, we prayed and hoped, but it still came out the same. The Fenway gang got up two times, but could not push one across. The end came quickly from a guy named Boone; its over, we lost. Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright, The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light; And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout, But there is no joy in the Red Sox Nation, its Cowboy Up and Out.
  12. I'm sick too and I have to be there all night. No excuse Tini. Hope you feel better!
  13. Yeah Vixen, wasn't picking on ya, it was a legit question in my mind that was raised by this thread. Feel free to advertise as you please!
  14. Oops, I meant the Red Sox suck. Great freakin game. So, the Curse is real. For the Cubs too I guess. I live in DC and <3 the Yankees. I tried to like the Os when I first moved here but the apparent stupidity of Angelos (and he's an ass) made it impossible.
  15. Wow, that's very impressive. I should've heard you at Andalu! As I'm playing at Gua-Rapo with Reval on Friday, I hope to hear ya sometime soon... And this discussion raises a fair question -- what are DJs (fairly) allowed to list as their affiliations and locations? Personally, I think affiliations and locations should be present tense (no offense Vixen, its an open debate IMO and other DJs have made me question this before), excluding any labels that DJs have had releases on (which would almost always be past tense!) I think this is fair b/c the purpose of such listings are to entice someone to come out to the show. For example, I'm from FL and have dj-ed there in the past. So can I list myself as "Barrett Atwood - Broken Soul - FL"? Some potential party-goer could think "wow, I should really go b/c they've flown this DJ in from FL so he must be good!" Of course, in the end, its all marketing so its no big deal IMO...
  16. Prediction: Yanks 5, Sox 2. And you can choke if you're the underdog -- its called the playoffs.
  17. Oh, I couldn't step on your territory like that. Too bad I don't have "We Don't Want Another War." haahaa
  18. Better you realized today instead of Friday night!
  19. List at 5 usually closes at 1130 or 12...
