  1. heres some info on the Technics CD decks -

    http://www.panasonic.com/consumer_electronics/pressroom/cont2.asp?Filter=12&cont_id=600

and heres a review of the decks from dj fingers -

Hi guys n gals! Just a quick comment on the new SL-DZ1200 dj cd/sd player from technics! I took a trip to plaza in london as i do every year and performed a 1.5 hour set on these decks! I took to them without even touching them as most people would! BUT!!! When i was getting the feel of them i noticed a few things! A) the timing on the scratch is the same as a cmx-3000 (pioneer) which is nothing like the CDJ range! The fx unit is shabby and is nothing compared with EFX-500 (pioneer) It dosnt feel like a 1210 C) and the loop What loop - it was gappy uneditable unless you had an atomic clock next to you! I think it looks great but cant compete against Pioneer Price and functionability!!!

PS. Idid have a quick stint on the new CDX-1 from Numark!! VeryVery Good! This could be the next big cd-deck! 12" PLATTER, Actual Vinyl use, 4.5kg torque, 100% pitch, CD MP3, editable loop fx unit very comarable to EFX-500 (seperate from platter unlike Technics!)

  2. thanks for the wishes you lot.

guess i'd better get some thermal flip flops for the streets of London.

  5. Moving to London myself in 5 weeks. going to High Gate. same reasons, kinda sick of the Miami music scene.

so whats hot in North London right now, I will be looking to spin some house back in the UK.:D

  6. Started this thread with the sole intention of maybe helping people out, but as usual, people have to be fucking assholes about it.

Yes, i down load an album now & then, and if i like any tracks, ill go out and buy them. I dont think i deserve being sued by the RIAA, as i mentioned before, i spend thousands/year on music & have done for the last 13 years.

i listen to Itunes allot, one of my fav sources of music and find myself constantly writing tunes down that i hear to go out & buy.

so please - save your fucking lectures

but one of the most disturbing reports i've read so far is this one....

    WHAT IS THE CBDTPA?

The CBDTPA is a bill (S. 2048) proposed in Congress by Senators Fritz Hollings (D-SC) and Ted Stevens (R-Alaska), along with Senators Daniel Inouye (D-HI), John Breaux (D-LA), Bill Nelson (D-FL), and Dianne Feinstein (D-CA). The acronym stands for "Consumer Broadband and Digital Television Promotion Act". Note that the CBDTPA was originally known as the "SSSCA" while in draft form.

    WHAT WOULD THIS LAW DO?

The law would force all new personal computers and digital home entertainment devices sold in the United States to have government-approved "policeware" built-in.

This policeware would restrict your use of copyrighted material on these devices -- including music files and CD's, video clips, DVD's, e-books, and more.

    WHO COULD GO TO JAIL?

You, if you're one of the millions of Americans who uses your computers to burn music CD's, listen to MP3's, share video files, etc. You'd face up to five years in federal prison and a $500,000 fine.

Think you'd be able to get around the law by removing the policeware from your personal computer? Think again -- anyone who defies the government by disabling or tampering with the policeware on their own computer, in the privacy of their own home or business, would also face five years in the slammer.

Since alternative operating systems like Linux and FreeBSD would most likely refuse to incorporate government policeware into their code, users of these open-source systems would also be eligible for hard time.

Go out and actually buy the tracks? How fucking difficult is it to speed down to Grooveman, Essential Groove, or Sweaty Juan's House of Vinyl, listen to the tracks, and buy it?!?!

or hit up itunes or bleep...either way, who cares?

Personally, i spend a few thousand dollars a year on music.

but im sure there are plenty on this board who like the free stuff.

  8. If any of you people intend to spend your NYE in Hollywood, Ill be spinning some seriously funky house at the 'Art Cafe' (used to be blue martini bar)

    9pm - early morning

    1820 S.Young Circle

end of Hollywood Blvd where it meets US1

They wont be charging an entrance fee as its not a club, rather a cool lounge bar.

Works with 2000 too. although backing up your system is recommended before you upgrade you OS, its not necessary, only the OS will be overwritten, not your other files/folders.

If you have a copy of XP - INSTALL IT. ME sucks.

I also just noticed that I Tunes displays the name of every tune played on the live feeds. how handy is that :aright:

depending on you internet connection, an hour may not be long enough. most internet service providers will give you different bandwidth for uploading and downloading (i can only upload at 26kps on DSL though i can download at 200kps!)

it sounds like its doing exactly what mine did, and it worked - status bar fills up and you just gotta leave it going.

start uploading before you go to bed or something.

    good luck
