Hi. I was wondering what everybody's feelings on this.. January 28, 2004 -- A 16-year-old Bronx student who was transferred last year from a violent Queens high school to a school for troubled kids was arrested yesterday for carrying a loaded gun to school, police and relatives said. Dante Miller, of East 166th Street, was busted after the .32-caliber revolver he was carrying set off an alarm on a hand-held metal detector at the Argus Community School at 760 E. 160th St., officials said. Miller's 60-year-old grandmother, Rose Miller, said her grandson received a "safety transfer" last April after he was mugged on the subway on his way to school. "He's a good kid," she told The Post. "He never hangs out in the street. He goes to school and then he comes home." Miller said she was surprised when she got a call from police yesterday saying her grandson was in custody. "I don't know where he got the gun," she said. "I don't like guns. I do not play with guns. I don't even allow the play guns in the house." Miller's arrest came as New York officials began ratcheting up the pressure on violence-plagued schools. Mayor Bloomberg this month named the city's 12 most dangerous schools - and announced a plan to send in "SWAT teams" of cops and school safety officers so teachers can teach and kids can learn.
