Went to Avalon, had an awful night so I just ended up coing home and going to sleep. This weekend was the worst in memory.

In continuation of my week from hell, my boyfriend and I broke up a about an hour ago. I'm really upset over it (obviously) since i never thought it would actually come to that point. I'm probably going out tonight to dance and get some frustration out of my system but what the hell do I do until then?

I'm finding that most places are closed today cause of the weather, is there ANYTHING decent tonight (tues 3/1)

I totally believe the 4 to 1 ratio and the guys there are pretty much there with their girlfriends. And if there are single guys they are usually pretty shady. Also, You can go with guys. I brought 3 of my friends (guys) there 3 or 4 weeks ago and had no trouble. The music isn't always so great but tolerable. They should just start letting more guys in (single guys that is....jk). The staff is excellent. After I started going their regularly (at least once a week) I got a card for thanking me and all. But a business card with a phone number that is more direct than calling the actual club. I've called like 10 mins in advance to check on tables and every time I arrive there's one person waiting for me to arrive. and every time they give me the same table, with the same server for drinks and when I do get to the table everything is all set up since I order the same thing every time. Plus, usually pretty packed and have to make sure it doesn't get more crowded than it is now. I'm kinda curious about sundays, i have work tomorrow so if i can i'll probably check it out. The guys (friends who come with me) can't go cause of work. i may hit it up does anyone go there son sundays outside (sorry...i think it's bad form to use names)

Really? I started goig there awhile ago and I've never had any trouble getting in. My experience with the staff and all has been really positive actually. Their security really looks out for everyone (there's always at least one out of control drunk person). However, I did see them turn people away a couple times and they were NOT happy about it. (shrug) No clue on how they decide who gets in and who doesn't. I never really get all dressed up or wear clothes that are barely on, usually just diesel sneakers, ripped jean skirt and a top (I choose comfort over style - just easier to dance if you're not wearing 6 inch heels)

Why does that first post sound like the beginning of an episode of Law and Order?

(also posted in the afterhours post - too tired to type it all out again so i'm just gonna copy/paste it). this all happened at odyssey last weekend.... "... the one complaint I have is that the bartender downstairs was probably THE rudest bartender I have ever encountered (and I've seen some a$$hole bartenders). I ordered a drink and not only did he give me the wrong drink, he gave me an attitude, tried to convince me that I was wrong. Then, when they were only accepting drink tickets and not serving anymore, I was able to get a few from the staff upstairs, who were really decent. (let me emphasize that everyone else working this party was great) So I went back downstairs and gave him the drink vouchers and he AGAIN gave me the wrong drink so I asked if he could make it another way and told him exactly what was in it because a lot of time there are a couple ways to make one drink, right? So he grabs the drink spills it out makes the new one and when I tried to leave him a tip he wouldn't take it and said I had "worked real hard" for the vouvchers and then insinuated that I had obtained them by trading sexual favors with someone else on the staff (THAT is a nice way of putting what he actualy said). Even the people around me by the bar (who I didn't even know) said something to him..."

"How long has this party been running?" I am not affiliated with this club at all but this is the a brand new party, just starting tonight/tomorrow morning, I believe?? Didn't plan on going out tonight but since I just found out that my now EX-boyriend is an emotionally bankrupt jerk who hated when I went out because he'd always accuse me of flirting when I was trying to just talk to people and freak out all night. Now that the jerk is no loger in the picture....I NEED TO GO OUT TONIGHT. Haven't been out on a Saturday in awhile and am in need of some music therapy and just have fun for once in a very long while......can anyone steer me in the direction of some good music and friendly people?

WTF?! A club that is trying to get a new partygoing should NOT be turning people away or giving people crap about anything! YOU paid THEM to get in but lots of places rely on word of mouth advertising, just look at this message board! people who go out often have friends that go out, right? word can travel pretty fast and can make or break a club. Think about it, at this moment 226 people have read this post and I bet a good number of people (including myself) don't really plan on hitting this place up. I go out to have a good time, not to be hassled by some self rightous jerk off at the door. They pull this crap on their first not of this party and expect people to come back or others to show up to get in?! No way

yeah i actually was thinking the same thing recently...all the places i hit up are usually empty or filled with mostly men in their mid to late 30s and 40s who try to get an ego boast by hitting on a 24 year old after having a couple with his buddies from the office. not a pretty site at all. i'm actually in hoboken but i haven't been able to find anything good here either.....anyone?
