  1. but NSIGARY0, I didn't say I didn't have a gig, I just said there is alot more competition due to the digital technology. I have embraced the digital stuff on the computer since 1996 and love the creativity you can add. The point was the competition is greater because of the ease of getting music because of the digital technology. Being a dj is a mainstream thing now, like the song says, "my cat is a dj" Becoming a dj now is easy, but it just harder to separate yourself, and to become a worldwide super dj and starting out now is like buying a guitar and hoping to be a rockstar! I still gig and still love the music, PEACE! VINYL has been dying for years I'm told! It's still going strong! MP3's are the next 8 Track!!
  2. Then he can go back to being a Drunk Cowboy, that stuttering prick!!

    Want New Music?

    that would be great.
  4. That DJing has become such a mainstream business. I have to agree some club owners are all about the $, actually they all are, but some find ways to play great new music and make money at the same time, but they are few, not the normal. Digital djing has it's advantages and disadvantages, the biggest disadvantage is that it has enabled just about anyone with a computer to get into djing. If dj's still had to hunt down good music and buy it (vinyl or cd) or get promos from the labels or a record pool, the industry would be a little more pure. I bet half or more of the djs out there now, have invested the kind of $ and effort to build a music collection the way we used to before digital was mainstream. Just my two cents.
  5. Here is the future http://www.peaveydj.com/dai/ Every club with a computer in the booth, dj brings music on usb harddrives, cds, maybe some vinyl. But this is the way to go digital. I love vinyl, never really got into the CD dual decks, I was feeling the Pioneer 1000 tabletop, but then I saw this. Glad I waited.
  6. Kerry may not be great, but we have to get someone new into office. Here is an interesting article about how much Bush has cost us. http://www.georgesoros.com/index.cfm?Fuseaction=SpeechHTML
  7. are probably the answer, but the printers and the cds are more expensive. If the label is put on properly it shouldn't cause a problem, never heard this complaint before. I don't suggest trying to tear a label off, it may take off some of the CD backing and just ruin the disc alltogether.
  8. Check out this post on the Miami board, I guess after WMC they had an overdose of NJ peeps, I think they are just jealous, LOL http://bbs.clubplanet.com/showthread.php?threadid=215995
  9. Is that people give these lists any weight or attention at all. Also surprising that Jr Vasquez is #232 and Peter Rauhofer is not in the top 100- In my opinion-Rauhofer is one of the few producers/remixers in the last year putting out quality dance music, plus he just won the Grammy. Also doing great work lately, Scumfrog, David Morales, Chub & Ceballos, Gabriel & Dresden. I guess these polls and surveys are nice if you are at the top of the list, but I personally don't pay attention to them, I listen to the DJs I like, weather they are # 1 or # 10,001.
  10. Here is the Daily News articles and pics at this link. http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/171452p-149532c.html Jonathan should consider himself lucky that he was let go and got out unscathed.
  11. I Feel Loved, Probably the Tenaglia dub since you said the rest of the vocals weren't heard.
  12. of our Civil Liberties every day, our Founding Father's must be rolling over in their graves.
  13. they've been good for years, glad to see them getting some mainstream recognition, they would be worth going out to see I think.
  14. That used to be a doorman in NYC, then was at Space in Miami for a while?
  15. From 1991-2001, great memories, saw the changes in the Miami and dance music scene over the decade, haven't gone in two years and haven't missed it. I have to say like 1997 or 98 was the last really good time I had, before it got overcrowded and became a real mainstream event. The best years were in the 90's with Liquid, Glam Slam, Shadow Lounge, The Mix, Bash, Warsaw and when Miami Beach was open for afterhours, those were the days. Thinking of actually putting the Nightclub show in Vegas on my calander for a change of scenery next year, anyone ever been, I think it runs a week or two after WMC?
  16. and think makes him great. He is a people's dj, a crowd's dj, and he also is a dj's dj. He keeps everyone happy, not to mention he is a nice guy. He is consistent, always creative, and his only agenda seems to be keeping the crowd happy, playing for the people and the room in front of him, not playing for himself or the crowd he wishes was there or the room he wishes he was in. He has a way of playing the old and the new and keeping everyone happy and coming back for more- which personally to me is the key to being a successful dj. My 2 cents.
  17. of music will die anytime soon, there is enough of an audience for every type of music. I do think the next trend, which is starting already with the record labels at least the majors, is to sign real talent that can play an instrument, write and perform, rather than trying to find an artist with good image that they can take into the studio and then market to the masses. The labels are looking for real talent because the audiences are demanding it. Look at Norah Jones, Michelle Branch, etc. They seem to be moving away from the Britney's and the mass marketing of image. Just my 2 cents. I just hope we get more good music with longevity, I'm personally tired of records with no staying power, that are only good for a month or two. I like good music that is destined to become a classic, that's what the music scene is lacking. Look for the Drum & Bass stuff to get a more mainstream audience as well as the loungy electronica stuff-ie Cafe Del Mar-Buddah Bar type stuff.
  18. I mean I love Dance Music but Hip Hop will never die, Dance music just needs it's next big good run, like the whole Progressive thing from 97-2001. But don't blame it on hip hop, and don't expect hip hop to die.
  19. It used to be FUEL, maybe not though, I'm just going by the pics on the site? What happened to FUEL< what is it now?
  20. It was my first WMC, before it became the trendy thing for people to do. I remember all the great old clubs, Liquid, Shadow, Bash, you used to go after hours on the beach, and come out of the club at 8am and just hit the beach. Paradox, Cameo, Amnesia, Glam Slam(that might have came later like 1994). Those were the hey days of Miami Beach- And we can't forget to mention Liquid.
  21. Anyone know someone who builds custom dj furniture & record racks in the NYC/NJ area?
  22. how far the envelope can be pushed, Media has been pushing and pushing, now they know the limit. just my 2 cents.
  23. not to mention a great guy!
