DANIEL BELL aka DBX [7th City|Accelerate|Tresor:Berlin-Detroit]<br>
<a href="http://daniel-bell.com/" target="_blank">http://daniel-bell.com/</a><br>
<a href="http://inthemix.com.au/features/23336/" target="_blank">http://inthemix.com.au/features/23336/</a> : recent interview <br>
Born in Sacramento, California, Daniel Bell grew up outside of Toronto, Canada, and then moved to Detroit where he collaborated with Richie Hawtin as Cybersonik for three years on +8 Records. In 1991, he started his own label, Accelerate, on which he released his influential releases as DBX. Based on nearby Chicago "trax" records, he reduced that sound further into funky, streamlined grooves. The formula proved to be successful and helped launch a new aesthetic in techno and house music known as "minimal".<br>
<br>
With the overwhelming success of his "Losing Control" single in 1994, Daniel set up 7th City Distribution in order to assist smaller Midwest labels to get distribution in overseas markets. He also created three new labels - 7th City, Elevate and Harmonie Park. In 2000, he relocated to Berlin, Germany, and released his first mix CD, The Button-Down Mind of Daniel Bell, on Tresor Records. He since has produced a series of remixes for a diverse range of artists, includng John Tejada, Pantytec, Akufen and John Thomas. He currently has a DJ residency at Robert Johnson in Frankfurt.<br>
<br>
SPINOZA aka Bryan Kasenic [bunker:NYC]<br>
<a href="http://klever.org/thebunkernyc/" target="_blank">http://klever.org/thebunkernyc/</a><br>
Spinoza hates writing his own bio. He loves all music, and does not liked to be pinned down: playing freaked out psychedelic sounds at horizontal ambient parties makes him just as happy as moving the dancefloor to minimal party sounds. For four years, Spinoza helped DJ Olive run the Agriculture, a record label dedicated to bringing homegrown laptop dub to the masses. As a community service, he writes the Beyond Events Calendar, which you should really be subscribed to if you have any interest in electronic music events in the fine city of New York. Spinoza has thrown or helped throw alot of parties and weeklies in NYC, but has put most of his energy into making the Bunker something special (just for YOU) since January 2003.<br>
<br>
Spinoza has played lots of big clubs like Tresor (Berlin), Twilo (2nd room resident until they closed), Tunnel, and Vinyl (now Arc). He's also thrown down at big NYC parties for the Madagascar Institute, Chengwin, Soundlab, Multipolyomni (at the Kitchen), Rubulad, the Lunatarium, Topsy, SEAL (NYC Burningman Decompressions), and PS1. He's spun at way too many little parties at bars and lounges to remember, but some include: Openair, Halcyon, subTonic (Barrelled, Polar Bear Club, Radical Anxiety Termination, Phonomena), Orchard Bar (Soundlab), Luxx, Baktun, the Cooler, Filter 14 (Static), Passerby. He had a goddamn blast spinning at Burningman in Black Rock City in 2001!<br>

SUBURBAN KNIGHT AKA JAMES PENNINGTON . DARK ENERGY [ DETROIT .
UNDERGROUND RESISTANCE . DARK PRINT . SOG RESEARCH ]
This man's contributions to the world of techno and house are
unequivocal. Pennington started out as a college party DJ alongside
Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May, and Eddie Fowlkes. Then he,
made his way into the world of techno, forever changing it with his
hit " The Art of Stalking" on the fledgling Transmat label.
As a member of Saunderson's group Inner City when they recorded their
biggest hits, "Big Fun" and "Good Life," he later went on to join the
Underground Resistance (UR) camp and as a producer and touring DJ. His
first vinyl offering for UR was the massive techno hit "Nocturbulus
Behavior."
He has since started his own label, Dark Print, in which the first
release "Tech-hieroglyphics," was a compilation album of Detroit and
Belgian artists. Pennington chooses to release new music less
frequently than many of his peers, describing his releases as
"essential lessons." His performances as a DJ are no different: rare,
much sought after, and not forgotten.
DAN PHYSICS [ BROOKLYN . SONIC GROOVE . CREME ORGANIZATION . CONRAIL ]
Just back from touring in Brazil for a few months, funkshun welcomes
Dan Physics to philadelphia for the third time. A veteran DJ and
Producer from NYC, Dan mixes a blend of Techno, Industrial, Acid
House, and EBM, with a focus on keeping the mood deep, grooving, and
dark.
CRAIG SOPO [ BALTIMORE VIA DETROIT ]
Recently relocating from Detroit to Baltimore, Craig Sopo brings over
6 years of experience behind the decks. Originally intrigued by the
percussive sounds of the Code Red and Drum Code labels, in the last
few years his sets have become more and more acidic, drawing from
labels as diverse as Krax, Communique and Definitive. Having been a
regular on the popular Michigan State University radio show The
Mechanical Pulse, his sets are not one to miss. Come out to hear this
native Detroiter's first show on the East Coast.
TOM++ [ PHILADELPHIA . FUNKSHUN]
Stripped-down funk and rhythm, always unpredictable. Choosing from a
wide arragement of sounds, Tom++ brings a clever warmth and emotion to
the moment, while revealing an insightful view of the reality we
inhabit. It is his continued dedication to advancement of all aspects
of the music, community, and culture that keeps Tom++ near the heart
of the Philadelphia and Global electronic music movement.

TOKTOK 'LIVE PA' [ BERLIN / GERMANY . TOK TOK REC. ]
Founded in 1994 in Europe’s techno capital, Toktok creates original soundscapes, expanding modern style boundaries. Toktok is renowned for their ‘live performances’, which entailed bringing the studio, synthesizers, drumcomputers, effects, and an enormous mixing console, to the party. Innumerable performances and 23 record releases later, their evolved sound is dedicated to making you dance.
MICHA KLANG [ NÃœRNBERG / GERMANY . PASO MUSIC . MOTHERSHIP ]
Micha Klang's style is marked by a love for long sets of minimal, textured tech-house and crunchy, crispy techno beats. Originating in Nürnberg in the late ‘90s, Micha Klang quickly broke ground with his ‘Mothership’ event. ‘Summership’, an open air event in an old castle was attended by thousands. ‘Mothership’ recently celebrated its 6th Anniversary, headlining Sven Vath, and today Micha Klang runs his label ‘Paso Music’ with Spallek, Sebrok, and Marc Miroir.
JUSTIN SCHUMACHER [ BROOKLYN . GOTHAM GROOVES ]
This young emerging dj/producer from the land of crooks is steadily gaining local praise for his ass-shaking, thought provoking sets. His style ranges from deep and mental, to dancefloor phunk, to straight dark bangin madness. There is no monotony, just an evolving journey through this elaborate music we call techno.
MIKO [ PHILADELPHIA . f(x) ]
In 1993 Miko brought his blend of funky house and disco to The Freight Yard and established himself as a resident deejay there. This club was located in a warehouse in Allentown, PA and is known for the legendary all night events and weeklies that took place when the rave scene was starting up in the US. At a time when techno music was the standard, Miko defied the norm by giving the crowd an awesome house set while at the same time keeping interest through a unique energy of driving techno sounds.
VEX [ PHILADELPHIA . f(x) ]
With a mysterious past, ranging from former KGB agent to founding father of the Illuminati, not much is known about Vex. He shows up, does as asked, and makes a prompt exit while leaving no traces, aside from the occasional person seeking the name of a track he played. People who know his true identity describe him as "A tall, short, white black fat skinny man with blue black green short long hair, and brown blue eyes. Oh, and he's really into Toblerone"

DA BABA http://toktokrecords.de/img/img/dababa.mp3
BOMZH http://toktokrecords.de/img/img/bomzh.mp3
Toktok is a project of the artists Nerk, Anton Waldt, C14 and Fabian Feyerabendt from the german techno capital Berlin. At the moment, Toktok has slimmed down to the artists Nerk & Fabian Feyerabendt with some occasional joining of Stefan Kuechenmeister.
It was founded in 1994, emerging out of the prosperous free party scene at that time where the Toktok members organized Parties together with the legendary Spiral Tribe Sound System. From the beginning on, Toktok focused on playing techno mostly live, plugging the whole studio (including a large amount of synthesizers, drumcomputers, effects and an enormous mixing console) in at the party location and going for a wild jam that would last up to 24 hours.
Out of the large amount of Live Gigs throughout the years, Toktok developed their very own style that would break the boundaries of style definitions such as techno, electro, house or hardcore, illustrated by their 23 releases so far.
In the beginning of the new century Toktok met Soffy O and they teamed up to form Toktok vs. Soffy O. Their first track together “Missy Queen ´s Gonna Die†was a huge club hit and resulted in a deal with East West / Warner Music. After releasing their second big hit “Day Of Mine†and the album “Toktok vs Soffy Oâ€, winning the German Dance Award and three years of intense touring all over Europe, Russia and Japan, the three decided to take a little break but continue to play together outside germany.
In 2004 Toktok recorded the single “Bang Bang†together with Nena that came out on their imprint Toktokrecords and Warnermusic. Later that year they put out an acid ep on the legendary acid label DJ.Ungle Fever. 2005 saw Toktok with two new releases so far : the “Koerperteile EP†on Bomzh Records and the “Den Den Den Remixes†on their own label Toktok Records.

MURAT 'LIVE' . Newark / Detroit . Data - Method 11:11
Techno comes in many forms. There's the melodic, textured Detroit techno of Juan Atkins, Derrick May, and Kevin Saunderson. There's the tougher spacey European variety of Luke Slater, Dave Angel, and C.J. Bolland. Then there's the hards-as-nails, compressed sounds of Stockholm pioneered by Cari Lekebusch, Adam Beyer, and Joel Mull. Murat's work falls into the latter category.
Based in Detroit, Murat was the first artist to be signed to Tim Baker burgeoning Elephanthaus label. Move, his first release for the label, was an underground techno hit, and led to further releases on European labels such as Method and Primate. The follow-up, Transpose, revealed a more mature techno sound that will find favor with fans of labels Underground Resistance, Planet E, and Metroplex.
ADAM X . NYC / Chicago . Sonic Groove
In his DJ performances and track production, Adam X's sound is best described as hard, EBM and industrial inspired dance-floor techno & electro. Adam X penetrates, educates and infuses his audience with a real energy, often drawing from dark & sexual themes, through the mastery of the electronic music medium he has gained from a prolific career.
Adam currently has a chameleonic approach to his artistry, playing at Industrial events like Maschinenfest in Germany, to playing famous techno clubs the next night like Rex Club in Paris. His own productions also combine the two genres, containing elements of both in a single track. From haunting minimal loops and deep, sexy basslines, to the pounding industrial teknoid beats that have become his trademark, Adam X's material reaches a deep and subconscious part of the listener, often evoking an emotional response which is especially visible on the dance-floor. Fifteen years in, Adam’s quest of producing, DJing, and releasing music has the same ideology as day one, that ideology being to continually break new boundaries within electronic music.
SHAWN RUDIMAN 'LIVE'' . pittsburgh . technoiraudio
In 1989 Shawn Rudiman started production work with ed Vargo on THD (Total Harmonic Distortion). This ebm/elektro unit became quite popular in the ebm/ industrial scene of the early to mid 90's, releasing 4 full-length albums, countless remixes and compilation releases on European and domestic labels. Along with this, a fascination with old music machines developed that led him to techno. In 1997 he decided to retire the long worn out industrial-ebm ideals. this led to a move towards pure rhythm and sounds, and a relocation to Pittsburgh, PA the transition period was difficult due to a scaling back of sound layers and refinement of rhythms, but results proved positive. At the same studio production began with techno, so did live sets. Sets of non-stop, all live improvised techno, as fluid and smooth as any dj set, but entirely flexible in direction and tempo. He then started Hyperviny Records with Trevor Combee. This led to meeting Anthony Shakir and that to releaseing tracks for Dan Bell and 7th City etc. He and friend Jwan allen have since started a new label, Technoir Audio. Today he resides somewhere in the ghettos of Pittsburgh and plays live on a regular basis in the mid-west area. "one of the best live p.a.'s i've ever seen."- Anthony "shake" Shakir
TOM++ . philadelphia . funkshun
Stripped-down funk and rhythm, always unpredictable. Choosing from a wide arragement of sounds, Tom++ brings a clever warmth and emotion to the moment, while revealing an insightful view of the reality we inhabit. It is his continued dedication to advancement of all aspects of the music, community, and culture that keeps Tom++ near the heart of the Philadelphia and Global electronic music movement. In 2005 his sights are set on studio production and studying the art of a 'hardware based' live performance.
RICK MIKO . philadelphia . funkshun
In 1993 Miko brought his blend of funky house and disco to The Freight Yard and established himself as a resident deejay there. This club was located in a warehouse in Allentown, PA and is known for the legendary all night events and weeklies that took place at a time when the rave scene, as it is known today, was still in its infancy. Every Friday night from 1993-1997 and also at the historic all night Freight Yard parties, Miko would deejay along side artists such as Joey Beltram, Laurent Garnier, Scott & Robbie Hardkiss, Keoki, Wink, Frankie Bones, Adam X, Feelgood, Scott Henry, DB, Dieselboy and many more.
In a time when techno music was the standard, Miko defied the norm by giving the crowd an awesome house set while at the same time keeping interest through a unique energy of driving techno sounds.

Gene Lefosse [Convolute / Counterbalance / Cocoon : NYC]
If you remember Program 2 then you know what Gene (Gennaro) LeFosse is all about. Gene has been in the techno scene since techno first emerged in New York in the early 90Тs. As program 2 he produced club anthems like УDominatorФ, УThe OmenФ and УTwisterФ. At this time he was signed to Vortex Records and was a resident performer at Limelight (NYC), when Jeff Mills was a resident DJ. Gene remixed legendary groups like Yello, Orbital and Human Resource.
In 1992 Gene was signed to major label Sire Records/Warner Bros. and released the album УRobotixФ. The next few years Gene was busy working on all different types of electronic music. He also started DJing again. In 1998 his Djing picked up. He spent most of 1998 and 1999 spinning in Europe. He traveled to Love Parade in Germany, the Vision Party in the Swiss Alps and Techno Parade in France. His set is combination of funky grooves and tribal techno. He has spun along side Sven Vath, Carl Cox, Jeff Mills, Adam Byer, Dave Clark, Misstress Barbara and Oliver Ho.
In 2000 Gene started his own label, Convolute Recordings. His first three releases УSpank MeФ, УNight WalkerФ and "Peyote which were all supported and played by Danny Tenaglia, Sven Vath and Jeff Mills.
In 2001 Gene received a call from Sven Vath approving the release of Gene's remix of Strahlemann Sohne. He also has releases on Tension Records, and has released an E.P on SurgeonТs record label Counter Balance, UK, and an E.P on Laurent HoТs UWE record labels.
His music has been used for various licensing deals with MTV and other media projects. The most challenging project Gene has undertaken is the remix of Jennifer Lopez's song "Play" and JamiroquaiТs "You Give Me Something". Although Gene mainly produces techno, he is able to take "commercial" sounding tracks and give them his own flavor.
Currently Gene is waiting on the vocal tracks from Tori Amos, for her next single release on Sony Music.

______________________________________________________________________
Gene Lefosse Interview:
Q - Hi Gene, tell us about how you first got into electronic music, and what it was about the music during that time that pulled you into the scene.
A- Electronic music has always been a huge inspiration to me, from early Brian Eno, Depeche Mode, and Kraftwork to the electronic sounds of Giorgio Moroder. It has always been my music of choice. So I'd say years of all that influence made me want to become a part of the scene in my own way.
______________________________________________________________________
Q- Describe the atmosphere at Limelight (renamed Avalon in 2003), back in the early тАШ90s, when you were resident DJ alongside Jeff Mills. What has your involvement been with Limelight throughout the years?
A-The atmosphere at Limelight (тАШ90-тАШ93) was probably the best ever in NYC. To this day I still tell people that Friday night (Future Shock) at Limelight was an amazing experience: 3000 + people every Friday night going crazy for Techno music! Plus it was all taking place in a church, which by itself can set an eerie atmosphere. Jeff Mills had a monthly residency, and I performed live as Program 2. The scene in NYC was something I'll never forget.
______________________________________________________________________
Q- Tell us about your record label, its mission, and the challenges you face with it.
A- My mission with Convolute began with a concept always to make something Twisted, a bit different from the normтАФwhich is also how the name was created. My label has had so much support from so many DJs across the globe: Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin, Jeff Mills, to Danny Tenaglia тАж the list goes on from house to techno DJs. Some of the challenges are actually the big problems with free downloads and MP3s. Record sales have dwindled more and more over the last three years. Hopefully the digital download can be in more secure and profitable place in the near future.
______________________________________________________________________
Q- Where do you draw your inspiration, and what is it you intend to communicate through your production and DJ sets?
A- My inspiration comes from a number of different places. The biggest is probably playing for a great crowd where you can play anything you want. When I come back from playing Europe is the best time to get back in the studio. You can take all that inspiration and bring in out in your production.
______________________________________________________________________
Q- What do you have in your studio, and what is your primary interface today?
A- My studio has a number of rack-mountable synths and older keyboards, that was how I started making music through the world of MIDI . These days I am 100% computer-based, maybe turning on the older analogue stuff to make a sound, then bringing it up in the computer. My main Interface is Ableton Live 4.1 with Operator and a bunch of soft synths & plug-ins. I also use Reason 3.0
______________________________________________________________________
Q- Where have you toured recently? Also highlight one particular evening.
A- I just played in Spain and Switzerland , three really cool gigs. There are so many gigs that I can call amazing. But I'd have to say that playing on a truck at Love Parade for over one million people would have to be my highlight.
______________________________________________________________________
Q-Can you describe your interpretation of the current underground in New York and what you would like to see different?
A-The current underground in NY is very slim to none. I give the few promoters and organizers that still try a lot of credit. I don't know if the promotion is where it's lacking, or the people in general just don't understand the music. Who knows? I would really like to see someone with the heart and patienceтАФ but smartтАФtry and build a scene small and work it from there. I know that sounds very hard, and it is, but someone can do it!

Gene Lefosse Interview for soon to be released Philly Techno Zine #3:
Q - Hi Gene, tell us about how you first got into electronic music, and
what it was about the music during that time that pulled you into the
scene.
A- Electronic music has always been a huge inspiration to me, from early
Brian Eno, Depeche Mode, and Kraftwork to the electronic sounds of Giorgio
Moroder. It has always been my music of choice. So I'd say years of all
that influence made me want to become a part of the scene in my own way.
______________________________________________________________________
Q- Describe the atmosphere at Limelight (renamed Avalon in 2003), back in
the early '90s, when you were resident DJ alongside Jeff Mills. What has
your involvement been with Limelight throughout the years?
A-The atmosphere at Limelight ('90-'93) was probably the best ever in NYC.
To this day I still tell people that Friday night (Future Shock) at
Limelight was an amazing experience: 3000 + people every Friday night going
crazy for Techno music! Plus it was all taking place in a church, which by
itself can set an eerie atmosphere. Jeff Mills had a monthly residency,
and I performed live as Program 2. The scene in NYC was something I'll
never forget.
______________________________________________________________________
Q- Tell us about your record label, its mission, and the challenges you
face with it.
A- My mission with Convolute began with a concept always to make something
Twisted, a bit different from the norm—which is also how the name was
created. My label has had so much support from so many DJs across the
globe: Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin, Jeff Mills, to Danny Tenaglia ... the list
goes on from house to techno DJs. Some of the challenges are actually the
big problems with free downloads and MP3s. Record sales have dwindled more
and more over the last three years. Hopefully the digital download can be
in more secure and profitable place in the near future.
______________________________________________________________________
Q- Where do you draw your inspiration, and what is it you intend to
communicate through your production and DJ sets?
A- My inspiration comes from a number of different places. The biggest is
probably playing for a great crowd where you can play anything you want.
When I come back from playing Europe is the best time to get back in the
studio. You can take all that inspiration and bring in out in your
production.
______________________________________________________________________
Q- What do you have in your studio, and what is your primary interface
today?
A- My studio has a number of rack-mountable synths and older keyboards,
that was how I started making music through the world of MIDI. These days
I am 100% computer-based, maybe turning on the older analogue stuff to make
a sound, then bringing it up in the computer. My main Interface is Ableton
Live 4.1 with Operator and a bunch of soft synths & plug-ins. I also use
Reason 3.0
______________________________________________________________________
Q- Where have you toured recently? Also highlight one particular evening.
A- I just played in Spain and Switzerland, three really cool gigs. There
are so many gigs that I can call amazing. But I'd have to say that playing
on a truck at Love Parade for over one million people would have to be my
highlight.
______________________________________________________________________
Q-Can you describe your interpretation of the current underground in New
York and what you would like to see different?
A-The current underground in NY is very slim to none. I give the few
promoters and organizers that still try a lot of credit. I don't know if
the promotion is where it's lacking, or the people in general just don't
understand the music. Who knows? I would really like to see someone with
the heart and patience— but smart—try and build a scene small and work it
from there. I know that sounds very hard, and it is, but someone can do
it!
______________________________________________________________________
Q- What would you say to a Philadelphia reader who is deciding to come to
the event you are performing?
A- If you're ready to get lose and wanna hear some records you never heard
before ... Come down and get busy. 'Cause I plan on it!

Gene Lefosse [Convolute / Counterbalance / Cocoon : NYC]
If you remember Program 2 then you know what Gene (Gennaro) LeFosse is all about. Gene has been in the techno scene since techno first emerged in New York in the early 90’s. As program 2 he produced club anthems like “Dominatorâ€, “The Omen†and “Twisterâ€. At this time he was signed to Vortex Records and was a resident performer at Limelight (NYC), when Jeff Mills was a resident DJ. Gene remixed legendary groups like Yello, Orbital and Human Resource.
In 1992 Gene was signed to major label Sire Records/Warner Bros. and released the album “Robotixâ€.
His first three releases “Spank Meâ€, “Night Walker†and "Peyote which were all supported and played by Danny Tenaglia, Sven Vath and Jeff Mills.
In 2001 Gene received a call from Sven Vath approving the release of Gene's remix of Strahlemann Sohne. He also has releases on Tension Records, and has released an E.P on Surgeon’s record label Counter Balance, UK, and an E.P on Laurent Ho’s UWE record labels.
His music has been used for various licensing deals with MTV and other media projects. The most challenging project Gene has undertaken is the remix of Jennifer Lopez's song "Play" and Jamiroquai’s "You Give Me Something". Although Gene mainly produces techno, he is able to take "commercial" sounding tracks and give them his own flavor.
Currently Gene is waiting on the vocal tracks from Tori Amos, for her next single release on Sony Music.

LIVE/DJ Warsaw Poland - Soleil / Synewave / Kanzleramt
Peter Sliwinski aka "Echoplex" the man behind Soleil records label. Considered as the so called 3rd and final wave of Detroit techno artists. He has appeared on various worldwide labels like Synewave, GFR End to End, Black Nation, L.L , Speaker Attack. His productions were licenced to compilations by Fumiya Tanaka, Richie Hawtin, Green Velvet. His latest LP titled “Salto Mortale†will be released in April 2005 on his own imprint Soleil records.
Real name: Peter Sliwinski. Polish-canadian producer and dj. Grown in Windsor, Canada.
Influenced by the local Detroit Techno Scene. Started recording in 1994. His first release – available only on cassette – under the name of Vocodic Sfera. His first ever dj gig in Rome, Italy. At the age of 16 fell in love with beats of Roland drum machines. Still incurred. Played his first live performance in Vancouver 1996. That same year his first ambient album as Les Autres Cirquites was released.
Studied sound engeneering and electronic music composition. Received as a gift his first modular sound system from his teacher that had set a path for his creative output for years to come.
Came back to his native land Poland in 1997. That year his Echoplex project was invented as a live concept first, as a producer name after. In the meantime recorded music for film, gained award for music for the documentary of the year, won scholarship to film academy in Kiev, didn’t attend it, only he knows why.
As the only woman in the world released his/her single under a monicker of Digital Princezz on Cristian Vogel’s Mosquito Records. Consequently licenced a track to Tresor Records.
Began venture with Damon Wild as Niteworks in 2001 on Synewave Records – 5th part of that project available now.
Gave birth to his first creative label Soleil Records – 2002. Has put out 9 releases so far. As a result toured Japan for one month. Recorded Live pa in Japan on Soleil. Created Soundlite label – Christmas 2004.
His newest album as Echoplex titled Salto Mortale LP coming out in April 2005 on Soleil Records. His third label – in works – to surface soon.
Now being almost 30, after more then 30 releases still full of enormous energy, drive and ideas. His head is full of light.

shawn rudiman + lukas owens + adam ratana + jwan allen + matt knyc
[ technoirAudio : pittsburgh ] 3 hr live performance
On this February night, for three straight hours, five electronic musicians combine their talents to bring you a massive live performance. Their palette will be an excessive amount of studio hardware, a PC, and a crate of vinyl. With Shawn, Lukas, and Matt at the helm of the insanity, Jwan and Adam will complement their live work through the dj mixer, manipulating and adding elements to the mix.
Maintaining strong links to Detroit techno, Shawn Rudiman's 2004 performance at "Green Lights Go"-a highlight moment at Detroit's annual Movement Festival-saw him simultaneously working his live set along with legendary artists Claude Young and Anthony "Shake" Shakir. Expect a similar experience this month at rizumu, courtesy of Funkshun and the Technoir collective.
Technoiraudio is committed and dedicated to releasing only quality material with strong ideas, direction, personality, and feeling-striving for definition that cannot simply be packaged into neatly labeled bins. Complimentary copies of Shawn Rudiman's Synthesexual LP will be given out in celebration of the new release.

The Bleep and Bass originator :: Neil Landstrumm :: extended bio
Landstrumm has recorded for some of the most influential labels in techno including Tresor, peacefrog, Scandinavia, Mosquito and Sonic Groove building up an extensive discography. His own imprint, Scandinavia, now enjoys worldwide recognition for being one of the few labels still innovating in the field of techno and design. During 1994 in Edinburgh, Scotland both friendships and working relationships were formed between a group of artists provided the infrastructure of what was to unfold.
The up front and heavy Sativa club provided the focus of creative attention between Neil, Tobias Schmidt, Shandy and Dave Tarrida providing them with the opportunity to develop their unique Live performance and Dj-ing skills. During this forming period the distinctive "Landstrumm Peacefrog sound" was created which debuted on four Eps and one LP in 1995. Strong ceonnections and EP releases were also made on Christian Vogel´s Mosquito label in Brighton and Adam-X´s Sonic Grooove label in NYC .
In 1996 the assocation began between Scandinavia and Tresor with the first LP release marking a strict departure from the more Chicago based Peacefrog style. "Understanding Disinformation" tested the new Bass Techno sound citing both influences from classic Detroit techno and the more abstract Sheffield Bleep techno. Metallic soundscapes, sub-bass and stark beats set the bleep-tone of the three Lps to follow.
"Bedrooms & Cities", a narrative of the worldwide DJ excursions, displayed a more atonal song structured style again building on the UK bleep movement from the early 1990´s. Bass lines, low and punding combined with swinging raw DMX rhythms, researched sounds, electro thips and zaps gave Landstrumm his best selling work to date pushing the distinctive Scandinavia logo into new domains.
Landstrumm after being granted a USO1 artist visa relocated the label and studio to Brooklyn, NY in August 1997 in order to experience the inner city urban culture.
The 3rd release in this series "Pro Audio" is a project completed entirely in Brooklyn, NY. Heavily designed and manipulated sounds created using an Apple Macintosh Powerbook 1400 and BIAS Peak 1,64 provide him with fresh raw media for sonic experiments. Landstrumm uses Bit-rate decimation and SFX Machine techniques to provide grainy and subsonic grooves within a constantly moving structure. "Pro Audio" illustrates the shift from swinging Jack-Trax to `Sound design for the Digital Territory. Razor sharp scissor hats, sub-funk bass and rolling hip hop structures display the influence of NYC's HipHop culture into his musical output. "Pro-Audio" contains pieces recorded over the whole year and re-edited and processed in May 1998.

KENNY LARKIN [ DETROIT - LOS ANGELES . POUSSEZ . ART OF DANCE . PLUS8 . TRANSMAT . KMS . WARP . R&S . PEACEFROG ]
"Kenny Larkin is a third-gen techno artist, a new school of Detroit-based musicians taking the city's famous hard-edged musical futurism into new and innovative areas. Although he missed techno's mid- to late '80s formative years due to a stint in the military, Larkin, a Detroit native, was brought up to speed by Juan Atkins and Derrick May, the latter of whose weekly radio shows inspired Larkin to pursue music production. Heavily rooted in house, Larkin quickly incorporated techno's formal characteristics into a brazen-yet-refined style that places his music somewhere in between Detroit and Chicago, combining house's more swinging rhythmic vibe and soft edge with techno's muscular backbeat and experimental zeal. He released a pair of 12-inches – 'We Shall Overcome' and 'Integration' – on the Richie Hawtin/John Acquaviva label Plus 8 in the early '90s before moving on to release material through Transmat Records, Buzz Records, Warp Records, R&S Records, and TVT Records. Larkin also established his own label in the process. Massively influential on British and German, as well as American strains of techno, his tracks have appeared on a number of notable compilations documenting new-school Detroit talent. His exposure abroad has also translated, as with a number of Detroit originals such as Jeff Mills and Carl Craig, into a level of European success far surpassing that at home. Larkin has travelled extensively around the world DJing at both small capacity clubs and large arenas. In addition to his weekly jaunts to Europe, Larkin has been putting the final touches on his latest album, which is to be released later this year. Larkin has also returned to his main love, stand up comedy. His goal is to at the end of 2000, move to L.A. and become a stand up comic, eventually going into film and writing."
MICHA KLANG [ NÃœRNBERG / GERMANY . GLÃœCKSKIND. PASO MUSIC . MOTHERSHIP . SURVEILLANCE]
TOM++ [ PHILADELPHIA . f(x) ]
Stripped-down funk and rhythm, always unpredictable. Choosing from a wide arragement of sounds, Tom Schreiber, aka Tom++, brings a clever warmth and emotion to the moment, while revealing an insightful view of the reality we inhabit. It is his continued dedication to advancement of all aspects of the music, community, and culture that keeps him near the heart of the Philadelphia and Global electronic music movement. In 2006 his sights are set on studio production and a 'hardware based' live performance.
RICK MIKO [ PHILADELPHIA .
