GRANDMASTER FLASH [Essential | NY]During hip-hop’s nearly 30-year history, few names have become as well known to music lovers
across the globe as that of Grandmaster Flash. Not only is he responsible for inventing the
musical genre called Hip Hop but his pioneering use of the turntables make him The First DJ
to play the Turntables as a Musical Instrument thus helping to elevate the status of the DJ
to a masterful, artistic position. He is universally recognized as a visionary artist. He
is also responsible for assembling one of the earliest and greatest rap groups of all time –
The Furious Five – these are some of the hallmarks of a career which has extended from the
Bronx in the early 1970s to all corners of the globe into the 21st century.

RONI SIZE [Mercury | Talkin' Loud | Full Cycle| UK]Roni Size grew up in the Bristol where he was exposed to the
burgeoning hip hop scene through local sounds systems and house
parties. Expelled from school as a teenager, he tuned in to his
brother's collection of Studio One reggae, eventually helping him
construct a home studio. Since the early 90s Roni has been pushing
the boundaries of the genre, touring the world and keeping us sweaty
on the dancefloor.

MONK [Hallucination | Florida]Banging out a soundtrack of underground party music that jumps
from ghetto house to slamming disco-tech and twisted techno, to
drum and bass rinse-outs, the dreadlocked Monk punishes the DJ
mixer crossfader as he works one record against another in a style

Back by popular demand, Buzzlife is letting you choose the the local DJ
talent that will play at Cubik on New Year's Eve SQUARED. All the fun of
New Year's Eve in a not so traditional way on our schedule. Cubik's NYE
celebration will happen the night before most club's festivities at a very
reasonable price. Countdown, balloon-drop, party hats, noise-makers and a
champagne toast will all happen at our 2 AM count-down. No more rushing to
to get to the club before midnight. Celebrate New years the Buzzlife way.
DJ RAP and SCOTT HENRY will be rocking the decks in the main room. RAP
will be playing TWO sets. A house set in the main room with SCOTT and a dnb
set in the front room. The Twix dj spokeswoman will be earning her keep

The fashion experts all agree that it's an etiquette faux pas to wear white between Labor Day and Memorial Day but their rules simply don't apply at an event called the White Party. Diesel, Energie, Miss Sixty, FCUK and other DC clothing hotspots are often perplexed by the unusual annual demand for white clothing leading up to Nation's White Parties (Cubik and Velvet) Customers flock to their favorite clothing retail stores looking for that perfect white outfit to make them standout amongst a sea of white at the club. This is all part of the tradition that makes this event so special. Black lighting beams from overhead to intensify the Winter wonderland decor and white apparel.
The birth of the White Party dates back to 1980 with it's roots stemming from one of the most decedent and legendary nightclubs to ever grace NYC. The club was The Saint. It made Studio 54 look like a studio apartment. Join us in our tribute to one of dance music's most sacred annual events by wearing white and being ready to dance the night away. Playing 100+ gigs per year, Icey is a touring maniac. But that doesn’t keep him out of
the studio during the week working on new tracks for his Indie Labels Zone and Tree
records, constantly trying to push the envelope to make his fans sweat on the dancefloor.
The new material is then cut on dub plates and tested out on weekend gigs: “There is
nothing better than finishing a tune and seeing the reaction from a crowded dancefloor
right after finishing it," he beams.

sHack's Elite Force project began back in 1996, debuting on his own newly founded "Fused
and Bruised" label. In 2001 he began recording for tech-funk pioneers "Whole9yards" and

Buzzlife brings back the infamous HoneyDew series of events at Cubik. These events traditionally happened three to four times a year at Nation. They highlighted DJs and live acts with a focus on a larger variety, a diverse mixture and an increase in the amount of talent that is usually booked at our weekly events.
We are proud to re-introduce HoneyDew with 'Series 1' taking place at Nation on Friday, November 18th from 8pm - 4am. The first band hits the stage at 8pm, and the entertainment continues right up until 4am. On April 28, Buzzlife will be hosting its second annual dance contest!
This year we're going to make it bigger and badder than ever before!
This year's installment will feature two categories, breakdancing and
freestyle, with dancers boasting the sickest skills and dopest moves
ever to grace a dance floor. 16 contestants in each category will
battle it out head to head, one on one, to determine who has the
heart and the skills to rise above the rest to become the second
annual Buzzlife Dance Contest Champion! OVER $1000 IN CASH AND
PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED.
Music: DJ LANTERN, DJ PROXXY and MARK FORREST will spin breaks.
Special performance by TRANSPORT [dancingbeam.com], featuring
last year's contest winner, Wendell Cooper.

During hip-hop’s nearly 30-year history, few names have become as well known to music lovers
across the globe as that of Grandmaster Flash. Not only is he responsible for inventing the
musical genre called Hip Hop but his pioneering use of the turntables make him The First DJ
to play the Turntables as a Musical Instrument thus helping to elevate the status of the DJ
to a masterful, artistic position. He is universally recognized as a visionary artist. He
is also responsible for assembling one of the earliest and greatest rap groups of all time –
The Furious Five – these are some of the hallmarks of a career which has extended from the
Bronx in the early 1970s to all corners of the globe into the 21st century.
The Bassbin Twins live set is an anything goes mix bringing in broken beats both old and new
school, jacking tech house, electro, and funky drum and bass all put through the Bassbin blender
and mashed in the name of up for it party music.
The name Dylan needs no introduction when it comes to drum & bass, He has been at the top of the
scene for some time now and this is well deserved! His style ranges from demented darkness to ghetto
funk, always retaining those trademark hard-driving, solid beats. Forthcoming projects include the
launch of his own new label Freak Recordings, releases for Goldie’s Metalheadz, Timeless, and a
continuing onslaught of discothèque destroyers for your listening pleasure.
