before you jump on the bangwagon of ripping me a new one you should know i work a full time job, am helping with GK, am trying to work on my own dj schedule, work on production and working a&r for a record label...i just don't sit on my laptop checking messageboards...
and yes, Mask you're suggestions were very much appreciated and passed on yesterday..

yes the consensus is that the flow was hampered when the live act went on..
as far as having a seperate night for live acts, i don't think that's the way to think of it..it's just programming the night to ensure proper flow which has been worked on these last two days..expect good changes.

the music was very good imo...i loved playing on that system and hope to get the chance again..
Benke fooking rocked it like Amaedeus...dayum..had the floor nice and bumping.
SoBL are a very talented crew, but the timing of their set should have been better cause it didn't flow right...but musically I'm sure in the right place at the right time they are great.
Darren played really techy..loved some of the choons he dropped...def had me moving even after hours of setting up, playing..etc etc..and what's better..he seems to really love playing, something i always look for from a headliner..some of them always look so blah.
notable mentioning goes to JJ who did very nicely with some pumping tribally beats..actually think i heard some electro influence too...the Pink was done up nicely!

good question...
Godskitchen is trying to push some musical boundaries with this night, thus we have two opening dj's..myself and Brendan Benke..and then a live act in Supreme Beings of Leisure..who after listening to them, are kinda on the Morcheeba meets Everything But the Girl kinda flavor..good stuff! Darren Emerson was the dj for Underworld which was also a very, very popular electronic act and production crew as well.
expect to see a live act typically in the main room each saturday, as the goal is to expose people who come to new and different sounds and genres.

this party is supposed to be for people who want to dance their asses off!! not look beautiful per se..although that's perfectly welcome too.

ok here's how it works:
Spundae was based out in the west coast, throwing parties at places like 1015 folsom and then spots in LA. They eventually moved forward and started doing parties in Vegas too which were very successful.
They have a great philosophy...bring great dj's, try and create an amazing environment and atmosphere through visuals and live acts, but MOST importantly, they support and foster the local talent. This is huge...it's like pro scouting for professional sports..it's kinda on par with that. They give everyday dj's the chance and experience of a lifetime..playing a massive party, opening for a headlining dj....can't beat that.
After the west coast they moved onward to Chicago were I experienced first hand the power they have. They brought a club up from the dead, this place was basically a bNt club in many ways...terrible crowd, cheesy nights..etc etc.
It took a few months, but with continued talent being brought in, with nights supporting the locals, with attention to detail that many overlook, the night eventually took off. I had the luck of opening for AVB after only playing out for about a yr or so...to this day that was one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life. Probably easily over 1000 people crammed into a club for this night alone..mind you the massive amounts of heads they've brought in regulary. It's about educating the masses..which is something Spundae has always worked very hard to do.
With the partnership now in place the same will take place...lots of hard work, building an amazing environment and supporting locals!! They will create and bring amazing talent into that place but it's going to take some open mindness here.
