  1. next in-store they have is for Crystal Method before their show @ Axis in May... btw, how's axis for seeing a DJ spin.... i'm gonna be checking out Ben Watt next month and have been in Axis longer than about 1 minute on a Friday night...

  2. they have a good dance section.... and honestly, it's a cool place to see a DJ.... i actually preferred Howell's mini-set at Virgin to his avalon set... probably because it was more laid back for him... less pressure and more fun... with a 2 or 2.5 hour set at avalon, many DJs "peak" too early and go too fast, too hard, too early. not really my idea of fun. just my .02 right there.

  3. Hey all---

here's what you have to look forward to end of this month...

Howell's played a very nice set at the Virgin Megastore before going on to Avalon... as it happened, i enjoyed his Virgin set more than Avalon. good times... check out the pics:

  6. For those who were there or for those who wanted to be there… here’s your chance to relive those magical 4 hours from the Shipwrecked Sunset cruise in Miami! I am pleased to present an in depth interview with Mark Grant, Lego and Jon Lemmon, discussing their musical influences and philosophies and their view of the future of House music (they all have strong view points and wise words to pass on!). There are some nice pictures to go along with the piece as well, so what are you waiting for?? Here’s a direct link:

Many Thanks go to Joshua and the HouseDivision Crew for putting on such a spectacular event. Also thanks to Jon Lemmon, Mark Grant and DJ Lego for speaking with me for this article. Due to time constraints, I was unable to interview Johnny Fiasco, but he deserves thanks as well!

Be sure to check out my other photos from the week while you’re there as well! http://www.armwriting.com/wmc05photos.html

    Cheers!

COMING THIS WEEK: ** STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW WITH DANNY KRIVIT!! **

  7. So how easy is it to take pictures of the DJs at Avalon? is it a closed booth and the DJ only visible from the floor below? is it the same basic booth set up as Limelight used to be? will i even be able to get a camera in there?

    thanks in advance...

    Alex

  8. I had the chance to sit down with Fred Everything several weeks ago when he came to Boston. Check out the interview, in which he discusses his career to date and the fact that he doesn't produce music strictly for the dancefloor.

Many thanks to the folks at Boston's Rise Nightclub for arranging the interview.

also be sure to check out some of the other features on DJ and artists such as Dave Lee (Joey Negro), Chus & Ceballos and many others.

  9. the thing about Mark is no matter how many times you go and see him, you'll almos never hear a repeat.... the man has that much music and he loves it all! and even if you don't know a lot of the stuff he plays, you can't help but dance yo azz off to his chunky, funky, dirty rollin' beats, off-the-wall vocal samples and quirky spats of keyboards.... he makes a room swing, girate, pump and.... yeah, here it comes.... JACK!!!

the man rarely dissapoints.... a master of the music and a modern legend, if you ask me. i'm kind of bummed i probably won't be able to catch him in Miami...
