  2. Yo! Check the newsletter and tell us what you think. There's a whole lot of new stuff going on in LA, and we want to hear what's rockin' and what's worth knockin'.
  3. Absolutely. I'm no raver at all, but when it comes time to play in front of 4,000 + Don doesn't mess around. One thing certainly can be said about him with no debate -- he is a consumate performer. It isn't very often that you'll see someone so enthusiastic behind a set of turntables.
  4. ... and Gabriel and Dresden don't fake it either. I happen to know Dave Dresden, and his fans should know that he reads every email they send him, he listens to everyone he possibly can after a show, and he scours message boards for beneficial feedback. He takes his work very, very seriously, and would saw his dick off before playing a prerecorded set. He's got some brand new tracks and is playing them wherever he can in order to get reactions from people. There's no way it's prefab. Please guys. If you're going to say things like this, just say you don't like them, but don't make accusations that simply aren't true or can't be substantiated. That's called libel and it is a punishable offense.
  5. I was on the stage behind him as a covering journalist. I'm also an amateur DJ. There was no faking going on. I would have been the first to see it. His booking agents were there with him and they would have flipped out if they had seen him doing that. Not a chance in the world that he was faking. Word on the street is that he did rock it pretty hard though. Gotta admit, my dancing shoes are worn thinner for it.
  6. He's playing at The Highlands on Fridays I believe, and then does the afterhours for Steve Castro and TJ Hoban over at Avalon on Saturday nights.
  7. Also, the last time I went out there, the vibe was really groovy. It's the perfect place to go to start a night out on the town with more than just a drink at a random bar. It's also quite romantic
  8. Mick Cole from the Bud Brothers is handling the talent there Thursdays through Sundays, so you know it's going to be good. There's a lot going on and there will be more to share soon.
  9. Coachella rawked. I can't believe how cool it is. Nothing but the best music and the coolest after-parties. If you haven't made it a habit of going every year, get on it.
  10. Forty Deuce is AWESOME. One of the best burlesque shows around. It's in a cozy, prohibition era environment, and the girls are top-notch. Tons of talent. I recommend it.
  11. I recommend Shugga. Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.

    Help!

LA Late's right. Saddle Ranch is great, and so is Rainbow. That place has more rock history than just about any other restaurant in LA, or the world for that matter. You can barely take a shot without elbowing an AC/DC roadie who'll tell you all kinds of stories over some Jack Daniels. It's a must.

    Help!

If you like '80s to modern rock, you need to check out Metal Skool at the Roxy on Monday nights. It's a hair band that everyone has been talking about for the last year or more.
  14. Tripwire killed it out in Miami. Definitely a rising star.
  15. This was my first WMC, but I can tell you that you're probably on the right track. I saw Danny Howells and Lee Burridge at Automatic Slim's (a 150-200 person venue) spinning all '80s tracks. It was simply killer.
