    For the past four years, the productions of Someone Else (a.k.a. Sean O'Neal) have become the measuring stick against which all minimal techno is measured. This has resulted in Sean spending more time touring around the party capitals of Europe and beyond than recovering from sleepless nights in his hometown of Philadelphia. Top-tier labels such as Foundsound, Musik Krause, Nummer, Fuzzy Box and Tuning Spork (the last two of which he co-founded) have all released the fruits of his studio labor, while his compilation appearances and remix credits could nearly fill up the rest of this page. Currently touring live, O'Neal's dates in America are becoming fewer and farther in between as his demand around the rest of the world grows exponentially. All "someone else" jokes aside, Sean continues to ride upon the minimal forefront with his patented sound, unique groove and stellar live sets.

    L.A.'s Jason Emsley is a rising name in the domestic and international techno communities behind the strength of his sleek, minimal productions. With a string of recent releases for Germany's Nummer label, Clever Music in the UK, Telegraph out of France and L.A.'s Droid Recordings, Emsley's records are more visible than ever. Emsley is dropping through Chicago en route to Europe for a tour that includes stops in all of Germany's renowned techno meccas (Berlin, Cologne, etc.), among other places. Citing artists like Richie Hawtin, Daniel Bell and Ricardo Villalobos as influences, it's clear that Emsley is a true student of the sound and coinciding culture. 2007 is sure to be another big year for Emsley; one that will see him release both a new solo EP and a full-length album of original material. Joining Emsley will be Siteholder Records artists Billy Dalessandro, Brian Ffar, & Daniel Mnookin; plus a set from resident DJ and host Kiddo.

    Blackout is a monthly Thursday night party at Chicago's most beloved underground venue, Smartbar. The event is dedicated to providing Chicago clubgoers with innovative and forward-thinking techno, minimal, and house music at an affordable price. Blackout has played host to both influential veteran and up-and-coming producers and DJs. The event features a different guest artist each month, while also showcasing a supporting roster of talented local performers. Kiddo is your humble host and resident DJ each month.

    DJ Kiddo [OPTIXmusic]

    DJ Kiddo (Elly Rifkin), a relative newcomer to the Chicago club scene, has already begun to make her mark in the few short months she has begun deejaying. A music student for nearly her entire life, she took to deejaying quite naturally. Look for big things from this little woman. Kiddo's sets are LOUD, pounding, and pulsating so you can't help but dance or bang your head. With her eager-to-please, easy-going, laid back attitude, it's no wonder her success is taking off.
