  3. The Spanish electronic producer Henry Saiz brings his unique formula to the esteemed mix series with an exciting conceptualized approach. Through attempting to occupy the creative space closer to that of an artist album, rather than a club mix, Henry has delicately created an odyssey in sound for the latest installation, Balance 019. CD1 explores how music has the power to contain and store personal emotional experiences. This is the characteristic that Henry loves most about music, that ‘evocative power to send you back to your childhood or to a specific moment of your life’. In order to create that evocative and psychedelic atmosphere, this CD has an elaborated crafted lo-fi sound through the use of varying analogue formats such as cassette or vinyl. Saiz expertly harnesses his intricate knowledge of sound through the use of a multitude of layers, sampling, edits and the use of lot of vocals to create a melodic and intense experience that attempts to connect with memories and complex emotions. Following the same concept, but offering up a balance is CD2, which is more geared towards the dance-floor. As ever, the track selection is eclectic in its outlook, but has a definite tech-house feel that is tinged with the influence of House, melodic Techno, Disco and Detroit alongside the plethora of styles Saiz uses for his musical motivation. Adding to the experience is the fact that Henry has chosen to use only unreleased productions and exclusive collaborations with other artists. So there are plenty of rare inclusions on the track-list that make for a completely fresh listening experience. Notable highlights are Saiz’s own new downtempo version of "Lady in the Mirror" and new tracks from him like "Eterno Retorno", which effortlessly fuses the past and present. Exclusively made for this are collaborations with Marc Marzenit, Dosem and Pional. New tracks like "Together" by Border Community’s Ricardo Tobar and Petar Dundov aka Solar Sailor’s "Horizons" revisit Henry’s musical journey with their distinctive progressive and futuristic sound. Additionally Henry’s new moniker ‘Hal Incandenza’ is featured here for the first time and offers up some amazing productions in the form of "Little Mountain" and also "Mystical Tree". Following the precedence set by previous featuring artists such as James Holden, Agoria and Joris Voorn, Balance 019 is another truly breathtaking outing from one of electronic music’s gifted proponents, and fully lives up to the forward-thinking expectations of the seminal mix series. 4. It really ain’t over til the Fatboy sings when it comes to Las Vegas. Legendary DJ/producer Fatboy Slim, a.k.a. Norman Cook, launched into the second date of his exclusive residency over July 4th weekend at Marquee Dayclub at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Mother Nature kept bizarre weather at bay in favor of amazing beats for a pool party of unparalleled proportions. Adorned in a yellow shirt complete with trademark Fatboy Slim smiley face and crossbones, he festively matched the three-story-high FBS balloon in one of Marquee’s two pools, plus the custom FBS logo décor throughout the Dayclub. Hyping the crowd via megaphone and rocking out barefoot in a custom plexiglass DJ booth built just for him over Marquee’s main pool, he kicked the pool party into high gear with samples of his “Praise You†melding into a funky disco-esque remix and drops of “Fatboy Slim is f—king in heaven.†Fatboy Slim blew kisses to the ladies, played “Put Your Hands Up for Brazil†and some sexy salsa for a group in Brazilian shirts, plus worked in a bevy of crowd pleasers including “The Big Bad Wolfâ€, “Rock the Casbahâ€, “Jump Aroundâ€, Bob Marley’s “Could You Be Lovedâ€, and concluded the set with a mash-up of “The Rockafeller Skank†and The Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction.†Fatboy Slim’s whirlwind of tracks plus infectious energy spilled over to the Fourth of July weekend warriors splashing in the sun. And with his sounds working them into a frenzy, FBS’s ability to play to the crowd brought the vibe at Marquee Dayclub to new heights. Be sure to catch Fatboy Slim’s final date of his summer residency with Chuckie on Labor Day Weekend - September 4 at Marquee Dayclub. 7. Argentinean-born Guti embarks on an exciting tour featuring his acclaimed live performance, following the release of his inaugural album teeming with echoingly hypnotic jazz-infused house music. This unique live performer effortlessly presents a collection of beautifully constructed productions that demonstrate the convergence and symbiotic nature of his vast musical past, and present. Classically-trained jazz virtuoso and national rock ‘n’ roll hero in his native Argentina, Guti is no stranger to music. A musical education that takes in Argentinean folk, blues, rock and jazz, Guti is currently enjoying a new chapter in his musical adventure within electronica. From the moment his track "Salon" with Damian Schwarz on Frankfurt label Raum…Musik was licensed by Loco Dice for his compilation ‘The Lab’, it was obvious Guti’s decision to explore house music was a positive step. With his productions now being a regular feature in the record bags of DJs as diverse as Loco Dice, Seth Troxler, Marco Carola, and Carl Cox, it is apparent Guti is enjoying a watershed moment in his long adventure. ‘Patio de Juegos’, which translates as 'playground,' is a wonderful multi-genre journey through the mind of an artist who is both on top of his game, and on the rise towards the stars. Lashings of his ever-present South American heritage infuse with incredibly intricate and perfectly simple house structures that give the whole album it’s almost ‘child at play’ ethos that is rarely found in electronic music. Current club hits such as "Wanna Be", with its nod to the historical upbeat lineage of house music, and "All the Girls", with its chugging rhythm, trickling piano loops and erotic vocals sit effortlessly alongside more experimental and jazz inspired tracks such as the explorative "Still Here". Another fine example is "Sun", with its deep bass line punctuated with the sun-soaked synths and summer high-hats that export listeners away to a warm utopia. Guti produces a number of tracks with high profile artists from both within and outside the DJ fraternity – a sign of his increasing popularity within electronica, and also his innate ability to collaborate with more mainstream artists. This has resulted in Guti pushing his productions in new and exciting directions. Israeli techno producer Guy Gerber features on "We Shall Overcome", with it’s rising synths complemented by a chunky beat that will ensure it features in many sets over the coming months. Visionquest’s Ryan Crosson lends a hand on "No Promises" which has resulted in a truly driving dancefloor groove. And "My Whole Thing" features Anthea Marie Nzekwu whose uplifting vocals accompany a dreamy chilled out beat. Berklee College of Music graduate, and Guti’s long-time friend, Grünbox features on "Miraloo" – an example of Guti’s ability to collaborate with the worlds musical elite. Notably, and perhaps the biggest coup, is that of Daniel Melingo who features on "Lucio El Anarquista". The Grammy nominated tango singer and world–renowned musician is well known for his composition work on Pedro Almodóvar’s films, and he brings a rich musical education to a truly sublime track. Overall Guti gives up a beautiful mixture of tracks that bridge the space between the club and the living room with consummate ease. A breathtaking first album which clearly demarcates the live performer’s ability and ambition for the coming years. 9. With the debut of the Fatboy Slim Las Vegas Take Over residency at Marquee Las Vegas turning into a truly unique experience due to crazy weather causing a surprise change in venue, pushing the party inside the Marquee Nightclub, the ever intrepid Fatboy Slim is ready to bring the spirit of Brighton Beach back to the Strip again on July 3, 2011. Though the forecast remains unclear, what can be guaranteed is a set from a true master of the dancefloor. With exclusive re-edits of his iconic tracks (think “The Rockafeller Skank†meets The Rolling Stones’ “Satisfactionâ€), a no-holds-barred musical approach that takes in everything from Latin Samba to big-room house, Fatboy Slim’s July take over will be where the fireworks really are on Independence Day Weekend. Last month the Marquee Dayclub pool was decked out for the launch of Fatboy Slim’s Las Vegas Take Over, complete with a plexi-glass DJ booth built over the pool, FBS logo banners and even a giant FBS happy-face/skull logo balloon. But a freak windstorm had palm trees bent double, the pool’s waves crashing over the sides of the DJ booth, and people huddled together under beach towels for warmth. Undeterred, Fatboy Slim ordered the show indoors the Nightclub, where Aeroplane promptly turned up the heat, banishing any wind-chill factor from Marquee’s main room, packed full of beach dressed clubbers, who clearly didn’t let meteorological mayhem dampen their spirits. When Fatboy Slim took to the decks, the crowd erupted in a scene reminiscent of Moeyaert’s "Triumph of Bacchus", clearly appreciating his fortitude to keep the party going despite weather issues. As a Las Vegas Citylife reporter noted: “By this time, that ear-to-ear grin had appeared, a packed dance floor following suit, and the party hit its climax…[a] marathon of fun.†For a firsthand account and video of the Memorial day weekend madness - .If it was this fun without the weather, just think what might happen when the sun shines! 10. Made Event is proud to present the king of trance Markus Schulz as he returns to reign over the decks at Pacha NYC on Friday June 17, 2011. Over the last 10 years Markus Schulz has fused the individual musical identities of progressive, house and trance into his own creative, now inimitable hybrid sound. Through the unique alignment of headlining DJ sets, Armada and Coldharbour label output and his highly prominent Global DJ Broadcast radio show, he’s spearheaded a sea change revolution in the US trance scene. This success has been reflected in weekly sets played in front of many tens of thousands, a GDJB listenership up in the millions and one Beatport chart-topper after another. Following several highly ranked positions, in 2008 Schulz punched his way into the Top 10 of DJ Magazine’s Top 100 chart, landing at #8 and remaining there ever since. Last year was Markus Schulz’s busiest year yet, with almost 150 gigs over 12 months, fueled by his third critically-acclaimed artist album, ‘Do You Dream?’ This year, following an outstanding effort through his ‘Prague ’11’ compilation, the legacy of Do You Dream lives on in 'Do You Dream? – The Remixes,’ featuring reworks from Ferry Corsten, Cosmic Gate, Super8 & Tab and more. Also recently released is his ‘Do You Dream? World Tour Documentary’ DVD, which follows Schulz through 18 countries over a 3-month period, taking viewers inside Markus’ professional life up close and at times personal, capturing his thoughts pre-gig in the ready-rooms, and following him onto the stages of electronic dance’s music biggest, most celebrated events. Not one to rest on his plethora of accomplishments, Schulz’s second album under his alter-ego Dakota, ‘Thoughts Become Things II,’ is out on July 8. It is a 14-track follow up to ‘Thoughts Become Things I,’ which is heralded as one of the boldest branch-outs ever undertaken by an EDM artist, exploring the darker and more devoutly club side of the Markus Schulz sound. 11. Firmly established as the UK’s most popular DJ/producers, Above & Beyond are at a tipping point with the release of their second album ‘Group Therapy,’ music videos for its acclaimed singles “ †and “ ,†and Group Therapy North America Tour with several sold-out dates. The album out today is already #1 on iTunes Dance Albums/US. Bringing Above & Beyond’s renowned blend of classic song-writing values and sleek electronic production into a contemporary context, their second album ‘Group Therapy’ extends their appeal into the furthest reaches yet. Combining elements of trance 2.0, house, electronica and even modern classical, ‘Group Therapy’ is a complete listening experience that includes the bittersweet orchestral beauty of piano opener “Filmic,†the dark tale of edgy electronic-house anthem “Black Room Boy†and the ambient electronica of “Sun In Your Eyes†– a track which recalls ambient’s early-90s glory days of Global Communication, Pete Namlook et al. With tales of loves lost, found and confused at Group Therapy’s heart, highlights like “Alchemy†and “You Got To Go†(both sung by former Faithless/Bent vocalist Zöe Johnston) are the antithesis of throwaway club music – adding depth, meaning and classic songwriting values to an album destined to go down as one of electronic music’s classic moments. Group Therapy’s first single “Sun & Moon (feat. Richard Bedford)†is a synth-driven stadium dance number that has hooked major props from dance music mogul Pete Tong and been playlisted on BBC Radio 1 - topping both the iTunes Dance and Beatport Trance charts along the way. The latest single “Thing Called Love’ (feat. Richard Bedford)†features chunky electro basslines with forward-thinking, euphoric melody drops, creating a powerful song-driven anthem that upholds Above & Beyond’s unique ability to marry innovative electronic grooves with stirring, thoughtful lyrics. Both tracks have been made into beautifully poignant music videos by talented director Ferry Gouw. The globetrotting Anjunabeats bosses are nearing the end of their extensive Group Therapy North American Tour with only a handful of shows left. After sell out shows in St. Louis, New York, Montreal, Los Angeles, Denver, Vancouver, Calgary, Sacramento, Seattle, Las Vegas, Scottsdale, San Diego and Newport Beach anyone attending the final 8 shows are advised purchase tickets in advance. The success is the result of years of hard work for Above & Beyond, with a CV that includes performing to 1 million people on Barra Beach in Rio and soundtracking the launch of Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic SpaceshipTwo. Building up an unstoppable momentum in the past 12 months, the UK-based trio made their debut at the legendary Glastonbury festival last year and saw the 350th episode of their Trance Around The World radio show become the world’s top trending topic on social network Twitter in December 2010. ‘Group Therapy’ Standard version on iTunes: http://goo.gl/iOjbo ‘Group Therapy’ LP Deluxe version on iTunes: http://goo.gl/iD3Gs ‘Group Therapy’ Tracklisting 01. 12. The Swedish sensation Axwell, one of the top 10 DJs in the world, will be making his solo Las Vegas debut at Marquee Las Vegas Nightclub on Friday, June 10, 2011. Axwell, a member of the infamous Swedish House Mafia, is a certified expert in sending the club into utter meltdown. With Axwell comes larger-than-life tracks with epic hooks and infectious rhythms, switching between house, techno and electro (and everything in-between) without breaking a sweat. It’s perfect match for Marquee’s spectacular stage, dazzling dancers and state of the art sound system, which draws a packed house every night. And with Marquee firmly established as the number one destination for the world’s premier electronic music talent, it’s the perfect time to indulge in Axwell, king of the sun-kissed summer anthem.
