  1. On average, fests are $50-$80 these days. Hell, when we did GG in Europe a few weeks ago it was £60 or so per day I think.

Yeah, Global Gathering in the UK has become a rip off. Not only do the tickets rise above inflation rate each year, the food and merchandise inside are extortionate too. I paid £9 for a small bottle of coke and noodles. Bear in mind it's about $1.80 to £1 and the noodles were cold and horrible too!

When it first started in 2001, it was £40 and drinks etc were fairly cheap - it was all about the music with very little commercial interest in it.

  2. If anyone can help me I'm going to London for 4 nights with some friends in September, any ideas for a good hotel in the heart of it all!!! ??? thanks in advance :)

what kinda budget are you working with? London hotels don't generally come cheap, especially right in centre but the transport system is pretty good... well, compared to the rest of the country, it is!

When I go up, I only need the room as a a base to keep belongings, catch a shower and maybe get a little sleep so always use guest houses - much cheaper than hotel. Guest houses tend to be very basic but why spend loads on a hotel that you're rarely gonna be in? I stayed here last time Chelsea Guest House, London - Online Hotel Reservations in London, England at Instant World Booking, instantworldbooking.com...

it was about a ten minute walk from nearest tube station (or 1 minute bus ride which is free if you get all-day London travel card which can be used on tube too). Pacha is at Victoria which was 2 stops away on tube.

If you do want a hotel, use lastminute.com: hotels, holidays, flights, travel and entertainment at the last minute. there are various levels of hotels on here, from budget to top quality rooms.

Which clubs have you got in mind to visit? Let me know which ones and I could point you in right direction of where would be near to stay

  3. Did they play "one more time"?

    :)

    yup.

only big track they didn't play was 'digital love'

I got some cool videos from their set but they're too big to attach. I'm useless at this internet lark so if anyone is interested in seeing them, please advise me on how to upload them!

  4. The worse thing that can happen to you is a slap in the face, pick up a trannie, or go down in flames. :flame:

Jeez, I'll take the slap over those 2 choices anyday!!!

Anyone know of anyone who hooked up with a trannie before?

Keep us posted, especially if you go OFER the month! That constitutes an automatic swirly. :flush:

Sorry but dunno what OFER means:confused:

Hell, it's not until December I'm coming over... I need my vacation now!

  5. If you are low on flow your chances of meeting hot chicks are especially low in Miami.

so the girls are pretty shallow in Miami then?:laugh2: What else other than flaunting my cash and exaggerating my British accent will gather interest from Miami's females of the species?

free drinks for girls?!?!?!? thats a bit discriminatory, isn't it? What about equal opportunities us 'Westerners' are supposed to enjoy?

Are beer goggles uni-sex? I hope so!

  6. Sooo??? :laugh2:

Aren't Daft Punk to your taste? I dunno how regularly they play over in the US but this was their first (and probably last) UK show for about 9 years so it was quite special.... well, for me at least anyway.

Twas rather good - the close encounters intro fitted nicely with the only source of light coming from their helmets

You should check out their Radio one essential mix from around 1997.

  7. I saw Daft Punk at Global Gathering last week.

Wow is all I can say! The atmosphere was like nothing I've ever witnessed before and the visuals?!?!?! They made what seemed like a completely sold out, commercialised festival worthwhile for me... and the good company I shared, of course!

It's a dam shame I won't be in Miami until December!

shame about Misstress Barbara though (to be fair, not seen her in a few years - maybe she's playing some interesting tunes these days?!?!)

  8. where is teh best place to go and meet single girls?

San Antonio!!! Nice and easy British tarts (girls like this bring my country down haha) fuelled by loads of cheap alcohol from the west end. Shame about the clubs there... well, just a shame about San An generally!

I stayed in San An as I had limited resources too but I wouldn't bother again... look in to staying in Playa Den Bossa. Thats where Space and Bora Bora (and the water park) are and Ibiza Town is only a short bus ride away, Privilige and Amnesia are just a bit further again and the night buses will get you home ok.

Going alone shouldn't be too much of a problem - people on e tend to be quite friendly! Everyone is there for a good time so you shouldn't face any hostility and I'm sure people will think 'the more, the merrier' if you tagged along. In the bigger and better clubs, I'd say people are there more for the music than the chance to hook up with girls (or maybe I'm just too dam ugly?!?!?)...unless you go to Eden or Es Paradis in San An (I wouldn't call them the better clubs though). I've not been to Pacha so can't comment on chances of hooking up there.

Having said all that about San Antonio - it is worthwhile seeing sunset/rise from mambo or the coastline cafe. Pete Tong does his essential mix live from Mambo every friday night from about 6pm - I should think you could meet some girls there!

  9. what does GTI stand for?

    Grand Touring Injection

Several car manufacturers other than VW use it too - probably more of a European thing

    *DISCLAIMER*

Despite coming from Britain - I DO NOT CONSIDER MYSELF TO BE EUROPEAN!

    Thank you!

  10. Quite surprised by some of the tunes in this list - I didn't realise many of them headed over the pond too... how naive I really am!

How could you all forget Pacific State - 808 state, Atalntic Ocean - Waterfall, Bassheads - anybody out there?

my 2 personal favourites of all time, by the MAN, Sasha - Xpander and Wavy gravy.

You need Bedrock - heaven Scent in there too, and Solar Stone - 7 cities or solarcoaster

gotta get some Plump DJs in there too but then again, you asked for old skool - I think my nominations are 'classics' as opposed to old skool

the list is endless really, isn't it?

  11. Space sometimes has side shows with midgets on trainers. :)

    Sounds like fun!

By trainers, I meant sneakers - that is what you call them, right? lol

  12. Evenin' all

I trust you all had a stompin' weekend?!?!?

I'm afraid I got another question... what kinda dress codes are there in Miami? Are trainers accepted in clubs there? The more 'underground' clubs here just want trendies in and cool trainers are fine but the more cheesy, commercial music playing clubs nearly always have a smart shoe policy - I can't dance solidly for hours in a pair of shoes!

  13. Crasher Summer Sound System = Kick ass times

never went to summer sound system but so glad I got to go to Crasher in the Republic and their other huge events before it's fall from grace...

Did you get to see many other clubs whilst you were over here?

    *adopts broadest English accent*

Hello there Raincry! Is that where I'm likely to bump in to you?

I see you like Hybrid... Wide Angle and Morning Sci Fi = Legendary

Infusion - Girls Can Be Cruel ... I love the 80s vibe to that track :hoparound

Can I expect that kinda music in glass and blue?

    Police Academy - Comedy genius

  14. September sees the closing parties, usually the 3rd week of September. Check Ibiza Spotlight for full listings though. The closing parties, although I've never been , are supposedly the best nights of the whole season.

If I was to go back to Ibiza, I'd stay in playa den bossa. You've got Space on your door stop and of course, Bora Bora. The Aqua park is also there, and not too far from Ibiza town. San Antonio is only worth a visit for Mambo and the coastline cafes for sunset/sunrise. You'll be able to get to Privilige and Amnesia on one of the night buses that operate all night, every night

  15. I run a mail order bride website on the internet. :)

    gimme a link...

is there a market for UK brides over there? I could set up an agency in London for you...

    DJ Frosty

    Miami*Kuala Lumpur*London

  16. Instead of the long winded diatribe you could have just said "Yes Frosty, I am a GILF!"

    I've witnessed GILFs here too!:)

So what kinds of music are all you guys in to then?

In fact, whilst I'm at it, why don't you all tell me a little about yourselves? haha

  17. whats the music policy in Nocturnal, Space, Bed, and Mansion?

I'm in to breaks, house, trance and I love the bizarre bootleg kinda stuff that 2manydjs and freelance hellraiser. I also like to experience new things - I'm sure there is a scene over there that I've not witnessed yet!

Also gonna do the whole 'tourist' thingso is there anythign ekse outside of clubbing world that I should definitely see?

So do you guys pary together much? What music are you all in to?

  18. I'm not from London but been up several times. try pacha on a saturday night. Gets pretty busy so make sure you get there early unless you pre pay for tickets from website http://www.pachalondon.com/

If you like your house a bit darker, go to Fabric. In fact, just go to Fabric - the sound system is immense. They have a varied lineup week in week out. http://www.fabriclondon.com/. Pretty big place too.

Also try The Cross in King's Cross. Nice funky house, nice sexy people, nice! It's a really small, low roof building underneath railway arches.

For after hours, go to the Egg.

Any tips for Miami by any chance?
