  4. Sick-E (MA051) Genotype Jazz DOWNLOAD Details: zip|320kbit|mp3 Runtime: 46:49 minutes Size: 93.8 mb Release Date: August 30th 2009 Style: Triphop, Downbeat, Jazz 01 PastPresentFuture (Intro) 02 An Inkling 03 Devolution 04 The Other Me 05 Swallowtail 06 Bond Music 07 Caleidoscopic 08 Feels So Good 09 Dark Matter 10 The Chill 11 Insanity Waits (Feat. Phour Trakk) Progress seems to be the very nature of the universe as we know it. All living things are ever moving and changing, striving for something just a step beyond the horizon. Nevertheless, sometimes it is a good idea to come to a halt in this evolutionary rat race, turn around and ponder how we got here in the first place. This is why Sick-E has been taking some time off his musical flagship that is the Zengineers for a trip down memory lane, resulting in an LP that takes the listener back into the musical past in a number of ways. With Genotype Jazz, Sick-E gives a nod and a bow to the icons of mid-90s triphop that first introduced him to the possibilities of non-analogue music. And in a way quite similar to the likes of DJ Krush, RJD2 or The Herbalizer he also pays homage to the half-forgotten realms of old jazz and funk sounds, wrapped in heart-warming pops and crackles. On a different level, Genotype Jazz also harks back to the first tracks the Zengineers produced as a newly formed team back in 2005. In this spirit the album hovers from moody and atmospheric downtempo beats to re-assembled funkbreaks and back, sometimes even venturing into pop territory, with a distinct jazzy vibe telling you that you are still on track. And of cause at the very end it delivers the obligatory co-production with Zengineer’s Phour Trakk, linking it all back to the musical present and future. 6. Stig Inge (Dresden, Germany) (MA049) CEPT Ep DOWNLOAD Details: rar|320kbit|mp3 Runtime: 20:00 minutes Size: 45.2 mb Release Date: March 27th 2009 Style: Electronic 01 Cept.01 02 Cept.02 The new CEPT-EP from Stig Inge is based on a concept: It consists of two tracks, each of them approximately ten minutes in length. The aim: Altering the conventional way of time-structures in electronic music, without forgetting to put the focus on the underlying message. Cept.01 starts out in a dark, mystic mood, that aims to suck the listener right in. But not simplicity is the guide here, it's the love for tiny details. Being melancholy as well as emotional, the connection to the listener is never severed, instead taking him along with the mighty synthline, being in full bloom only in the last third of the song. The melancholy basis of the track intensifies more and more, only to be destroyed and densified at the same time nearing the end. It's completely up to the listener to let go or to stay until the bitter end. Part two of this EP also starts off in a dark atmosphere. Despite a couple of scarce sunrays, the alluring beats lure you deeper and deeper into the dark-as-night forest. But no need to be afraid: Light is provided through acoustic flashlights you make take along with you. Be warned though that the way out of this complex structure made of deepness might not be that easy to find. In spite of this, be invited to take a stroll - in the dark. In the case of Zengineers the mission is to revive a musical language written off by many with some new content. A network, consisting of the netlabels iD.EOLOGY and musicartistry, is already there to back them up. And so their dichotomic approach to the question whether these days there still is anything left to say on the topic of drum'n'bass bestows upon us a netaudio-premiere in the shape of a double-album release divided upon two netlabels. "Hikari" and "Yamiyo" act complementary to one another in style and content and yet the two halves unite 24 tracks, on which Zengineers easily recombine genre characteristics of past and present days with stylistic tidbits from synthpop-vocals to world-music-vibes and jazz-elements. "Hikari", published on iD.EOLOGY, casts one look forward and two looks back. Warm pads meet rattling swishbeats, the earthy sound of wood contrasts the crisp tone of metal, while LTJ Bukem and Roni Size shake hands in front our inner ear. Indications of far-eastern harmonies touch the tracks as lightly as a soft breeze and carry our thoughts off to mysterious places full of exotic beauty, just to transport them back to western culture with elegic pop-vocals the very next moment. When this trip is about to end you notice how much inspiration for the inner cinema there still is to be found in drum'n'bass these days, while at the same time you wonder whether there might also be some new sides to the more physical qualities of the genre to discover. More on that on "Yamiyo". "Yamiyo", published on musicartistry, has both its feet on the solid ground of the present. Harsh resonance-filters meet driving boldbeats, the massive sound of ferro-concrete contrasts the clanging of shattering glass while Photek and Eat Static are dancing the funky chicken in front of our inner ear. Indications of jazzy basses coolly groove into the action and put us into smokey subterranean bars, just to hunt us down white-tiled subway stations in a feverish electro-staccato the very next moment. When the ride is about to come to an end you notice how many different ways drum'n'bass still has these days to make you feel your own physicality, while at the same time you wonder whether the same thing is true for the inner cinema-qualities of the genre. More on that on "Hikari". 14. Stig Inge (Bremen, Germany) (MA041) Limitation Of Life Ep DOWNLOAD Details: rar|192kbit|mp3 Runtime: 24:10 minutes Size: 33.2 mb Release Date: February 24th 2008 Style: Electronic 01 Stig Inge - The Return Of The Black Swan 02 Stig Inge - Silent Sadness 03 Stig Inge - Unknown Sickness 04 Stig Inge - Red Is Not Funny Limitation of Life. The name of this EP is also a fact. It takes a lot of time to understand what life means. It is also the same with this EP. Sometimes deep, sometimes full of power. Anything but superficial. The Ep includes four hypnotic tracks full of melancholy, deepness and a breeze of sadness. It starts with the black swan which introduce the EP with some kind of darkness. The organic birdsounds symbolizes the life and of course the black swan. He is living his life in a sad and dark way in a place where is no light. He is trying to escape from that but he will never see the sun. Never? The second track named "Silent Sadness". The birds are gone. A really hypnotic and kicky one with a deep melodic synth combined with minimal aspects. "Unknown Sickness" is everywhere. You don't know where it comes from. It's there and it will never leave you. Filtered sounds and straight kicks join together and form a small and deep monster. After that "Red Is Not Funny" brings you to the end of this journey. Harmonical beats will make you a little bit happier and the slow groove brings your heartbeat back to earth. Everything is fine. Be happy.
