Thanks for the reply. You gave me some good info! A/B is definitely one of my fave acts. I get what you're saying about the traveling choices though. I think I was a little spoiled living in Detroit, where there was a couple clubs with great promoters who brought in GREAT acts week after week. I'll keep checking back here for parties that come up. Any idea how I can get in contact with some of those locals guys. I'd love to not only be a part of the scene, but help it thrive in the area. I've learned my lessons, thru radio, that EDM will never be mass appeal, but if you can put together the right events and not segregate genres and people, you definitely make some things happen. So I work in radio and I left Philly in 99. I'm back home now and working in Allentown. I went down to Old City last night and I was a bit discouraged that every bar played the same stuff...hip hop and pop music. I'm a huge fan of progressive trance, breaks and house. Basically alot of European stuff. Definitely not the vocal NY sound. Where in Philly can I find this stuff. Granted I've only been out one night, but I'm surprised I couldn't find any electronic music at all. Do most of the bigger electronic acts bypass Philly and just go to AC now? or it seems like most people head up to NYC for events. I've DJed and worked in Detroit and Orlando for the last 8 years and I know the dance scene here really died off, but I didn't think it would be this bad.
