  1. Anyone with common sense shoulda told the Mansion owners that this is New York and not Miami... Girls dressed in lights and fires inclosed by glass are great for a night or two out (in a lounge), but it's all about substance.... I learned a year or two ago that the bigroom scene is hopeless, it's all about the Love's, Sully's, Bar13's, and Shelter's for a good night out with good music, or even one of the million mini-Mansions this city has for a more formal night out... The pictures and stories I'm seeing and hearing from this place are a nightmare..
  2. Martin last year @ Shelter!!! The man rocked it!!!! Can't wait.... I think he comes on at 11, so relatively early, obviously, but a reason to show up early before the line reaches the other corner... I think it's John O'Callaghan's debut NYC, and Martin's second time here, so it's gunna be a special night, can't wait!
  3. A bit deep, but you're pretty much right... The only thing keeping our beloved "house venues" open is the 18+ nights... Newsflash, there's a million and one bottle-whore clubs in this city packed to the brim... People WANT to spend 300$ and think they're getting into clubs no one can get into... So thank god for parties like this that are keeping the DJ culture alive, somewhat, we can only HOPE it packs out, right? But I do agree with both sides, going to a Sully or Love on a Friday night is definitely better than a Pacha Friday night, but in terms of layout and size, they're obviously incomparable... Just hope there's a good vibe that night, and I'll sure be there early when doors open at 8PM!
  4. One of the bigger TGE parties I've seen in recent years... Good job!!!
  5. I'd say the problem with 18+ parties is how many people people are wayyyyy overage (ex: the FOB corner @ PACHA, and, in my opinion, what contributed to the downfall of AVALON in the first place).... I'd place less blame on the 18-20 kids, and maybe a "No entry if more than 30 years old" banner should be enforced lol... Maybe we might not have a shitty vibe at most of the big rooms in the city nowadays...

  11. Strobe Life NYC and Night Reveler present to you.... MAIN FLOOR DJ PREACH http://www.djpreach.com :: Relic Recordings :: Black Hole Recordings Preach is one of the biggest producers of the last few years. Hailing from Montreal, Canada, DJ Preach is currently lapping up some seriously well deserved media attention from areas like the ever familiar Holland's Dance Valley Festival, Fragas Florida 135, and Barcelona's Dasco Festival to name a few. Noted for an ability to balance his own deep musical training with the ephemeral needs of the dance floor, Preach excels at injecting emotion and energy into the rhythmic, sometimes formulaic genre of techno music. The ambitious, hard-working DJ, producer and label manager has become a key player in the continuing success of techno music in clubs and gatherings the world over. With a slew of critically acclaimed releases for respected techno imprints including Black Hole Recordings, In Charge, Intec, Relic Recordings, Sessions, Primate, Zync, Symbolism, Mbelektronics, Iturnem, Ascend, and many more, Preach's prolific production pace has allowed him to rise meteorically within the ranks of techno's international elite. Named as the man to watch in 2005 by Carl Cox and recognized as Marco V's favorite producer, Preach's tracks are regularly charted by such dance music glitterati as Paul Van Dyk, Carl Cox, Marco V, Armin van Buuren and Tiesto to name but a few, and his passionate DJ sets have taken dance floors by storm across North, South and Central America, Middle-East, Europe and Asia. Achieving widespread production and DJing success with relative ease, 2006 saw Preach achieving yet another milestone: the continuous success of his own label, Relic Recordings, as a home for his own recordings and mixes, and as an arena within which he can continue his collaborations with like-minded electronic music artists. Preach's most recent releases, "Broken Inside" on Black Hole's FBI label, and Relic's "Oxygen", are some of the current best-sellers, and his upcoming tours and gigs include Holland's Dance Valley, Spain's Fabrik and Sonar Evolution, Slovakia's Free Summer Festival, Slovenia's Summer Gathering Festival and UK's infamous Turnmills, and his continuous and successful Asian and Brazilian Tours. We are proud to present to you Preach's monstrous sound on the monstrous sound system at Club Shelter. ALEX PEARCE http://www.djalexpearce.com :: FTWK :: NY Hates You Alex Pearce loves house music. His style is dirty and fun, and with his pumping sound of energetic house music he‘s quickly making a name for himself on the International Club Scene. Amoungst his busy gig and studio schedule, Alex found time to release “Kinky as F#$k†a new mix that encapsulates his two year residency at the Sullivan Room NY, the Club Systems 2005 and 2007 Nightstalker Award Winner. Throughout 2006 Alex has been a regular at NYC’s mega clubs Avalon, Pacha, Crobar and Spirit. But 2007 is all about the production studio, where Alex is set to release multiple original releases and a slew of remix work thoughout the year. “Alex is an amazing DJ, I have lots of confidence he will shine and everyone will catch on with his talent. Not just an amazing DJ, but an amazing person too,†says Behrouz. “In my travels in both the US and Europe I frequently ask promoters about their favorite ‘rising talent’. It does not surprise me hearing them say Alex Pearce and I always agree with them that Alex is a very consistently exciting DJ,†says The Scumfrog. “I first met Alex via Filter 14….I can say that he's one of the few young DJ’s I’ve met of late that are grounded and keep a good attitude. Skills behind the decks are equally charming and I really think he'll be going places,†said Hector Romero DJ ECO http://www.strobelifenyc.com :: Lunatique Recordings :: Strobe Life NYC Hailed by Martin Roth as "New York's uncut diamond" and a new addition to "the elite league of the upcoming young rebelling producers," the young 20 year-old American trance DJ, DJ Eco, is no stranger to the electronic dance music scene. Having been influenced by such legendary artists as DuMonde, Scot Project, DJ Mind-X, and Trance Allstars, among many others, Eco has been producing music since age 14. He started DJing at such a young age and at age 16 spun at his first megaclub, Club Deep in New York, for a younger audience of under-18s. It is from this that he grew more and more each year, adding multiple club and rave dates on his calendar each month. It was also this year that he started his weekly radio show "Strobe Life Sessions", which eventually was broadcast on multiple online stations, featuring guest DJs ranging from Mauro Picotto, Yahel, and dozens more, even today. As years passed, Eco began to play more of New York City's top superclubs, closing and opening for big headliners. Some of these venues included Spirit, Avalon, Club Shelter, among others. With his new production "light at the end" named Tune Of The Week on Armin Van Buuren's "A State Of Trance" show, and "paradise now" getting recognition as Trance.nu's Official Love Parade 2006 anthem for its would-be float, his name is bound to make waves all over the electronic music globe. A DJ Eco live set is like no one else, you cannot predict what styles or songs he will play, as his taste and influences of music are so wide. Production-wise, he tries to cross the boundary and provide something refreshing and new everytime, never using the current hit-making formulas that most other producers base their styles on. Supported by such names as Armin Van Buuren, Judge Jules, Agnelli & Nelson, Thomas Bronzwaer, and John O'Callaghan, among many others, as well as Lost World and Martin Roth on remix duties of his latest production, the future looks bright for the young DJ Eco. After so many years of hard work behind the turntables and computer screen, DJ Eco and his emerging epic sound will show you to the light at the end. DJ Eco's closing set will celebrate the upcoming release (and follow-up single) of his new tunes "People Always Let You Down (Run Away)" and also "Body And Soul."
