  6. God bless the Jay Z's and Nas' of the world, but the future of Hip Hop is now in the hands of the young'ns. Be it their lyrics, their production chops, or their swagger, these kids are charging at the forefront. Two young rappers in particular have Hip Hop in an iron grip, and are muscling it towards a future of electro sensibilities. Hollywood Holt hails from Chicago's South Side -- a regular fixture in the Kid Sister/Flosstradamus/Million $ Mano/Ghetto House scene. Thanks to his infectious singles and fiery live performance, he has been gathering head nods from the likes of Kanye and Lupe Fiasco... and building a steady army of Chi-town fans. Meanwhile, Kid Cudi has been revamping Hip Hop as well. Ever since his ‘Day N Nite’ single smashed through the blogosphere, he has been busy at work -- fusing alternative rock, hip hop and R&B into feel-good releases. Where Holt goes hyphy, Cudi goes hypnotic -- bringing loopy lyrics and lazy basslines to the masses. Doors: 10pm Price: $10 at the door

  8. World-renowned DJ/Producer, Sinden, is a complicated beast. You can't say he is the "King of House, Electro, Baltimore Club, Miami Bass, and Grime" because that would be too shortsighted. To claim that he rocks Baile Funk, Hip Hop, R n B/Soul, Dubstep and Dancehall would be a half-truth. But maybe if you combine both and add in a little Funk Carioca, Kuduru, and Juke House you might start to get close. Fact is, Sinden is unstoppable. Whatever our concept of musical genres may be, he is light-years ahead of it. And on September 20th, Sinden gets behind New York's best soundsystem, and lays out an unforgettable night in the cavernous grip of LOVE. Date: Saturday, September 20, 2008 Hours: 10pm-4am Price: $10 advance tickets; $15 at the door
  9. NYC biggest dubstep night returns from the August break with a lineup that signals the arrival of a new season, a new year (if like us you still live by the school calendar and buy new sneakers every september), and two artists who are at the forefront of the next wave of young talent pushing dubstep forward. ONEMAN is fresh off his appearance on the Generation Bass special on Radio1, and his totally unique selection and mixing are unlike anything else we've heard inside Dub War. DARKSTAR has quietly released some of the most thrilling tunes of the past year, and this night comes on the heels of a Hyperdub showcase mix for BBC Radio 1 which will further cement their name among the scene's newest innovators. Date: Friday, September 19, 2008 Hours: 10pm-4am Price: $10 advance tickets; $10 before midnight, $15 after
  10. The folks at RVNG (not "Revenge"....rumor has it that Dave P ate all the E's last time in Berlin) are at it again with another limited EP of nerd-crafted edits. The RVNG project was never really meant for anything except to act as a blaring distraction from what is supposed to be "cool". RVNG doesn't exist to tell you what's cool because, quite frankly, the NRDS behind it have no fucking idea. They only hope to support their extended family of genius DJ/producers through exclusive music projects and fabulously dorky parties. Join them at LOVE on Sept 18th and help them raise hell in this big rad world of ours. Date: Thursday, September 18, 2008 Hours: 10pm-4am Price: $10 advance tickets
  11. DJ Harvey is one of those dudes whose musical legacy defies the basic tenets of success. He has released tracks under various pseudonyms on labels such as Mo’ Wax, Dorado, Ministry Of Sound, Skint and Junior Boys Own. He has produced and remixed tracks for Jamiroquai, Brand New Heavies, The Police and Cornershop as befits his eclectic style. He is one half of the duo behind the classic and elusive Black Cock record label, recreating famous and lost edits of disco records by house music pioneers such as Larry Levan and Ron Hardy. The man is a legend from way back. That's all you need to know. Date: Saturday, September 13, 2008 Hours: 10pm-4am Price: $10 advance tickets; $15 before midnight, $20 after
  12. Chus & Ceballos are one of house music's most in-demand duos. Both having started their DJing careers early on, the new millennium found them with the enviable status of industry veterans. Now, their relentless touring schedule takes them around the planet, spreading their trademark Iberican sound -- a blend of hypnotizing, warm, inviting tribal soundscapes laced with brilliant modern tech elements -- everywhere they go. In the words of the legendary DANNY TENAGLIA, Thank God for Chus & Ceballos! 15. Rising above flavor-of-the-month dance trends, veteran NYC DJs Eamon Harkin (FUN, Sunday Best, Wurst Edits) and James F!@#$%^ Friedman (Refuse, Go Commando, Throne of Blood Recordings) have joined forces to create Prime Time, a showcase for classically-minded yet forward-thinking dance music, irrespective of genres. Think disco, house and techno for grown folks rather than nu-ravers, somewhere between New York's legendary Fixed nights, Glasgow's long-running Optimo party, and PS1's Warm Up series. And on August 23rd, they are joined by Todd Terje, the 25 year old Norweigan who has stormed the dance music scene with a barrage of celebrated releases. Date: Saturday, August 23, 2008 Hours: 10pm-4am Price: $10 advance tickets; $15 at the door RSVP- rsvp@primetime-nyc.com Venue: LOVE Address: 179 Macdougal Street @ 8th

M.I.K.E. played an unbelievable set for us back in December, so we are very excited to have him back again, this time for a special classics set. As if that weren't enough, Randy Boyer of EnMass will be returning to New York after spinning a widely talked about set with ATB @ Pacha earlier this Summer. 21. Ewan Pearson is quite possibly a living dance music legend. He has recorded as Maas for Soma, and under a number of other guises including World of Apples and, currently, Partial Arts for Cologne's legendary Kompakt label. His remixes for the likes of Depeche Mode, Chemical Brothers, Seelenluft, Cortney Tidwell and Freeform 5 have made him one of dance music's most respected producers and have been compiled on 'Small Change' (Soma, 2001) and last year's !K7 2CD retrospective 'Piece Work'. He has programmed for Goldfrapp and Gwen Stefani and his production credits include Tracey Thorn's acclaimed solo album 'Out Of The Woods', The Rapture's 'Pieces of the People We Love' and M83's latest 'Saturdays=Youth'. He was a published academic at the tender age of 27 and of course as a DJ Ewan's no slouch either. Two CDs - SciFiHiFi Vol.1 for Soma and July 2007's fabric 35 were both nominated for Plug awards, and his 2006 Resident Advisor Podcast was voted best of that year by the website's readers. A regular at clubs from Privilege to the Pulp to Panoramabar, his sets - like the rest of his career - defy easy categorisation, marrying the independent and the underground with a pop sensibility that's all his own. Currently Ewan is working on the debut album from Australian indie hopefuls Lost Valentinos, new Partial Arts material, remixes for Hot Chip and Foals and the next solo record from Tracey Thorn. AND on August 2nd Ewan makes a much anticipated return to New York joining Primetime residents Eamon Harkin & James Friedman on NY's best soundsystem at the one and only LOVE.
