Totally leave in the morning; you'll hit crazy traffic if you leave at 5 or 6....I'm going down at like 10; there probably will be some traffic, but not as bad as in the evening.... My advice is that mid day is the best time...avoid all the people trying to get to the beach early and rush hour traffic late afternoon.
