I love this poem

You're the one I wanted to find

You're the ultimate treasure i had to leave behind

I love you with all my heart

I couldnt find another from the start

How could i have tried to let you go

when never told you that i do

I told you that faithful day

so i could let you go someday

but now, it's even worse

for this will be my lifetime curse

to remember these memmories i wish to leave behind

you were the one i had to find

to hold me, to talk with me

to forever be

to smile at me, to hug me when im down

but now i regret what i have done

now that your arms will not surround

my shoulders that are not covered with your arms

I stand alone and empty

wishing for you to fill me in

I stand cold and hungry

for the love i need to live

tell me, it's going to be alright

tell me, you'll be my light....

The Warrior's Bottle

There exists a tradition, centuries gone by

Of a warrior's bottle, and a lover's night cry

The tradition is said, to determine the fate

Of the mighty warrior, and his beautiful mate

A small bottle is given, from he to his lover

Made of delicate glass, and a cork for a cover

Then off he would go, into a long bloodied war

His mate left to worry, and long for him more

She kept the bottle close, and warm by her heart

Then like the falling rain, her tears would now start

Flowing from her cheeks, she wiped none away

Into the bottle, is where they must lay

Day into night, then night into day

Every new tear, being stored away

If the warrior survived, and returned from his quest

He would remove the bottle, that lay near her chest

If tears filled the bottle, near overflow

Nothing was said, for now he did know

It was without question, she loved only he

And had been faithful, despite being free

They would make love, until first light

Their spirits would soar, their fires ignite.

And if you look up, on such a magical night

You would see a star born, and burning so bright.

a poem that may win me $1,000

Sweet Nothings

Have I.. ever.. loved you too much

Do I.. sicken you.. with every sweet touch

Have I been wrong... for oh so long

That its over... no closure...

When did this begin... these shakes... emotional outbreaks

Whered did my... coldness go

The only thing numb.. is your dark kiss

Everything else hurts

When did things change... my fears..

Bring out your tears

Where are we now... everywhere but here

I need to move on...

Your still holding me close

I have to break free

Your still not letting me go

Just one more kiss... one more sweet nothing

one of my favorite sappy love poems

by Elizabeth Akers Allen

At Last

At last, when all the summer shine

That warmed life's early hours is past,

Your loving fingers seek for mine

And hold them close—at last—at last!

Not oft the robin comes to build

Its nest upon the leafless bough

By autumn robbed, by winter chilled,—

But you, dear heart, you love me now.

Though there are shadows on my brow

And furrows on my cheek, in truth,—

The marks where Time's remorseless plough

Broke up the blooming sward of Youth,—

Though fled is every girlish grace

Might win or hold a lover's vow,

Despite my sad and faded face,

And darkened heart, you love me now!

I count no more my wasted tears;

They left no echo of their fall;

I mourn no more my lonesome years;

This blessed hour atones for all.

I fear not all that Time or Fate

May bring to burden heart or brow,—

Strong in the love that came so late,

Our souls shall keep it always now!

heh found it...this is probably my favorite poem..

John Donne (1573-1631)

A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning

As virtuous men pass mildly away,

And whisper to their souls, to go,

Whilst some of their sad friends do say,

"The breath goes now," and some say, "No!"

So let us melt, and make no noise,

No tear-floods, nor sigh-tempests move;

'Twere profanation of our joys

To tell the laity our love.

Moving of th' earth brings harms and fears;

Men reckon what it did, and meant;

But trepidation of the spheres,

Though greater far, is innocent.

Dull sublunary lovers' love

(Whose soul is sense) cannot admit

Absence, because it doth remove

Those things which elemented it.

But we by a love so much refin'd,

That ourselves know not what it is,

Inter-assured of the mind,

Care less, eyes, lips, and hands to miss.

Our two souls therefore, which are one,

Though I must go, endure not yet

A breach, but an expansion,

Like gold to airy thinness beat.

If they be two, they are two so

As stiff twin compasses are two;

Thy soul, the fix'd foot, makes no show

To move, but doth, if the' other do.

And though it in the centre sit,

Yet when the other far doth roam,

It leans, and hearkens after it,

And grows erect, as that comes home.

Such wilt thou be to me, who must

Like th' other foot, obliquely run;

Thy firmness makes my circle just,

And makes me end, where I begun.

Looking up at the stars, I know quite well

That, for all they care, I can go to hell,

But on earth indifference is the least

We have to dread from man or beast.

How should we like it were stars to burn

With a passion for us we could not return?

If equal affection cannot be,

Let the more loving one be me.

Admirer as I think I am

Of stars that do not give a damn,

I cannot, now I see them, say

I missed one terribly all day.

Were all stars to disappear or die,

I should learn to look at an empty sky

And feel its total dark sublime,

Though this might take me a little time.

~W. H. Auden

**If equal affection cannot be, Let the more loving one be me. ...doesn't that make you think? I would so rather be the one hurt instead of hurting someone else :(

There are so many words

Yet there are no words

For when I look into your eyes

No words need to be spoken

And the warmth of your smile

Is a statement in itself

And how could I ever try to explain

The trembling in my body

When I touch your face

There are no words to explain an emotion

So I open to you my mind

That you might walk

Among my Dreams and Memories

Then.......and only then

You might understand my silence

Here we go... I read this the first time 9 or 10 yrs ago, thought then, and still do, that it's the most dead-on description of relationships.

Intimacy, by Marge Piercy

Why does my life so often

Feel like a slither of entrails

Pouring from a wound in my belly?

With both my hands I grasp

My wet guts, trying to force

Them back in.

Why does my life

So often feel like a wild

Black lake under the midnight

Thunder where I am drowning,

Waves crashing over my face

As I try to breathe.

Why

does my life feel like a war

I am fighting alone? Why are

You fighting me? Why aren’t

You with me? If I die this instant

Will you be more content

With the morning news?

Will your coffee taste better?

I am not your fate. I am not your government.

I am not your FBI. I am not

even your mother, not your father

or even your nightmare or your health.

I am not a fence, not a wall.

I am not the law or the actuarial tables

Of your insurance broker. I am

A woman with my guts loose

In my hands, howling, and it is not

Because I committed hara-kiri.

I suggest either you cook me

Or sew me back up. I suggest you walk

Into my pain as into the breaking

Waves of an ocean of blood, and either

We will both drown or we will

Climb out together and walk away.

not a poem but since i was listening to her cd today...

Doubled up

I saw a mountain from higher above.

I held your hand and I was doubled up in love.

Big sky above me, a river inside me

and I'm doubled up in love.

You're watching your step but you fall as you're walking.

You take it in stride but still you fall as you're walking.

Big sky above me, a river inside me

and I'm doubled up in love.

Feels good, it feels like poetry,

don't ask me to explain it just feels good, like poetry,

I'm doubled up again.

Look at the sky,

Lift off like an aeroplane,

watch the ground come up to meet you.

Big sky above me, a river inside me

and I'm doubled up in love.

Feels good, it feels like poetry,

don't ask me to explain it just feels good, like poetry,

I'm doubled up again.

I found a poem from a girl i used to see ages ago...she inspired many things for me....a most curious girl from what i remember...completely fearless....she ran with her nightmares.

The Unknown

Light fades into darkness

And I see a world reborn

The Nightmares take their places

Then they jump into your soul

They fish for burried treasure

Making all what's bad come true

Until the sky grows empty

And the day is all brand new.
