The recent spate of uncommon tornado sightings in the metro area has made us wonder -- do we really live in the Northeast or in the Midwest! Well, last time we checked DC is far enough away from Kansas, but you’ve been warned — anything can happen in the merry ol’ land of Buzz. For this our second foam party of the summer, leave Toto with Auntie Em, click your Pumas three times and repeat, “There’s no place like Foam! There’s no place like Foam! There’s no place like Foam....â€

2 SINNERS are Carl Hovland and Klaus Hill. Carl and Klaus came together through their mutual work in the drum and bass world, and over the past 2 years the duo has been causing quite a stir on the dance music scene with their unique brand of breakbeat funk. It’s this sound that has led to support from some of the world’s leading DJ’s including Seb Fontaine, Stanton Warriors, Orbital and Ali B. The duo have done live mixes for Radio 1 and Kiss FM, hold down a residence spot at Andy C’s Ram Records @ The End and fulfill a world wide DJ schedule. Carl is also 1/3 of leading drum and bass outfit Usual Suspects, and Klaus records for house labels Ronster and Canvas.

FRIDAY, JULY 5, 2002: DIESELBOY MAIN ROOM RESIDENCY SLOT

Admission: $15 before 11 p.m. | $20 after 11 p.m.

Drum ‘n’ Bass will always have a home in the front room at Buzz, but its resurgent popularity has allowed this musical genre’s DJs to explore new territories with their sound. Back in May, Dieselboy destroyed Buzz’s main room for the Planet of the Drums tour. It’s definitely our honor to open up a regular main room slot to America’s premier drum ‘n’ bass don and one of Buzz’s finest residents DJ’s. The other drum ‘n’ bass DJ’s on this night will perform in the front room.

SCOTT HENRY || www.djscotthenry.com | DC ||

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

The warm weather brings out the Honeynut Bee in all of us, particularly Scott Henry’s Bit O' Honey DJ sets on the outdoor multi-level patio -- a summertime Buzz tradition. Scott spins all night from midnight 'til dawn, new tunes & classics... you'll hear them all under the stars with a bee’s-eye view of our Nation's Capitol. Mr. Henry will be out on the patio on the first Friday of every month during the summer.

Brancaccio & Aisher’s emergence on the global dance scene was arguably a curious arrival for a duo who highlight their favourite artists of all time as Jim Morrison and Burt Baccarach and spend their 'free' time listening to hip hop; but far beyond the world of progressive house, people are increasingly recognising the names Brancaccio & Aisher. Their track 'Darker' went on to be licensed to Paul Oakenfold's 'Travelling' compilation (selling over 150,000 in the US), to Perfecto in the UK and across the world. The massive range of support Brancaccio & Aisher have received, beyond the world of progressive house, is testament of their immense popularity. In the progressive scene this support has come from Danny Tenaglia, Paul Oakenfold, Sasha, Jimmy Van M and Satoshi Tomiie to name a few; Pete Tong ensuring global coverage with his Essential Selection. FRIDAY, JULY 12, 2002: FEVER RE-UNION | ERICK MORILLO | BREAKS TWO-THIRDS-TAKEOVER

Admission: $15 before 11 p.m. | $20 after 11 p.m.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

The breaks revolution has achieved another glorious victory! Two-thirds of Buzz (the front room and the patio) will be dedicated tonight to the funky breakbeat sound! Plus, it’s our bi-monthly Fever Reunion night with Feelgood and Scott Henry in the main room.

Moving Shadow, Botchit and Scarper, All Good Records and LTJ Bukem’s Good Looking Records have all been graced by Aquasky’s cutting edge production innovations. Musically, their styles span every facet of the breakbeat landscape from D ‘n’ B to breaks. Aquasky (pronounced “aqua – SKYâ€) have published over 40 releases in the last 12 years and rate as one of the most prolific recording artists in the history of global beat culture. Check out their new, highly-acclaimed, tuff-as-nails fourth album, “Beat The System†out on Botchit and Scarper.

Shimmy Shakes is one of the vanguard promotional crews in the DC breakbeat scene. From Buzz afterhours to their own special events, these guys have established themselves with an impressive roster of breaks DJ’s, two of whom are part of the successful Solid Breaks tour this summer.

FRIDAY, JULY 19, 2002: BIG BAD BASS TOUR -- DILLINJA & LEMON D. | “KOOL ICE†CRYOGENICS PARTY

Admission: $15 before 11 p.m. | $20 after 11 p.m.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Nation has installed a permanent cryogenics system in the club. Last month’s cryo party was spot on, and there is NO better way to let off steam in the summer months, than with a disorienting, arctic blast of dense frozen fog that cloaks the club, tingles your skin and warps the light show. We’ll crank out the cryogenics once per month, so mark your calendars...

Who is Meat Katie? This label boss, producer and DJ has a rich musical history from playing in bands, managing and promoting, recording for Wall of Sound (as Ceasefire), recording for R&S Records (as Avenue A), running W9Y and putting out consistent quality records as Meat Katie. His guest spots have taken him across the UK & Europe, he has compiled mixes for Kiss FM & XFM. His music has been highly critically acclaimed by DJ's and press alike and have had consistent airplay from Pete Tong on his Radio 1 show. Meat Katie is certainly one of the established breakbeat producers who are breaking down boundaries and finding acceptance on the dancefloor from house and breaks crowds alike.
