mugwump
http://www.chinese-art.com/artists/openstudio.htmOn April 22nd, the Beijing Sculpture Institute organized the second in a series of "Open Studio" exhibitions to exhibit the art of young sculptors and installation artists. Exhibited were six installation artists, all born in the early 1970's, well-known for their use of dead animals and human body parts who are often compared to the British artists who made the exhibition "Sensation" just that. Friends since attending the high school attached to the Central Academy, they made their debut in the January 1999 "Post-Sense Sensibility" exhibition in Beijing. They continued to shock and puzzle the art community, getting press in publications ranging from the South China Morning Post to the Chinese magazine Sanlian Shenghuo. The video documentaries from this exhibition are being exhibited at the Lyon Biennale from June 17 to September 24th.
