Faithless bow to popular demand

Last updated 23 September 2002

Faithless have announced they could start work on a new album as soon as January.

They were one of many bands, including Starsailor and Zero 7, who teamed up for a concert for the United Nations 'Peace One Day' at London's Brixton Academy on Saturday.

Despite Faithless recently announcing they were taking a year off, it seems they may have changed their mind, as Maxi Jazz explained to Radio 1:

"From August 31 we weren't actually gonna even start thinking about making the new record until July next year. But for some reason, and I think it's the live shows, we're actually more popular than we were when we put the record out."

"The record company are just not having us taking a year off, so we'll probably be starting the new album in January, and it'll hopefully be out towards the end of next year."

Other 'Peace One Day' gigs took place place in cities across the world after peace campaigners asked musicians to back calls for a global day-long ceasefire.
