If this area is called Trastevere ..... on the main road, just as you start walking to the most famous church in that area called Basilica di Santa Maria in Trastevere is a cafe, indoor and outdoor, (inside had wood panelling, stairs several floors down to go the bathroom)... just get the pasta --- the pasta and sauce is ABSOULTELY incredible and decent price. Now, this cafe is right on the main street of Rome, about three blocks from the church. It's NOT the cafe in front of the church..... And oh, if you start walking ot the church and pass a music store, you'lll walked too far. Also, no joke, the Hard Rock Rome cafe upon the Via Vento --- if you get a graving for american food restaurant, it's the same price as here, maybe a bit cheaper ... hamburger, fries, and onion soup (well, yeah that's french) lol all veryyyy good and decent priced. Was in Rome recently. Definitely miss it.Take care. Email if you got questions. info@lalate.comlalate . com/ ny late .com Dood I know exactly where your talkin about.Trastevere is one of my favorite places to go chill..and it's got the only american movie theatrein Rome called the "Pasquino" that plays movies in English.(It's been revamped though..the old way that it use to behad a rooftop that opened so you could seethe stars while you watched the movies..funny thig was that every now and then when theyd open the roof some poor unsuspecting catwould be sleeping on the automatic sliding shingles...needless to say there where many moviesthat where interupted by the howl of a fallingfeline and the screams of some poor soulwho's misfortune it would be to have an angry catland on their head...)But I'll go try this pasta dish youtalk about. Take care....Stop by Orchard Sunday if ya like and I'll share more funny stories withyall....I got tons of em`peace..MUGz

mugwump
It is hot at Rome's Cinecitta movie studios, and smelly on the set. At high noon, sunlight falls through the haze in the dust. It's late March, the 118th day of shooting Martin Scorsese's film, "Gangs of New York." The smoke machines rumble and emit the poisonous smell of kerosene. The artificial smoke has drifted through the studio's streets ever since the film, set in 19th-century New York, began shooting seven months before. It adds to the real fires that are burning everywhere..Neat article about CINECITTA and SCORSESE:http://www.shell.linux.se/treggy88/...citysashes.html
