brickhouse
Tiesto at #1 is a joke.....he may play good tracks, but he NEVER does anything special. He's about the trance equivalent of Tenaglia without the talking and without the legacy...plays good music, mixes it well, keeps the crowd moving, but really does nothing special at all...Other DJs that are way too high (just based on ability and keeping the crowd moving): Most of the top 10, save Carl Cox and Lee Burridge (Sasha belongs in the top 10, but not at #2), Fergie, Satoshi (he's good but not THAT good), Scott Bond, John Kelly (John KellEy is better...), Lisa Pin Up (as the Brits might say, she's pants), Layo + Bushwacka (great producers, horrible DJs).On the other end, I'm happy that Stanton Warriors, Krafty Kuts, Umek, and Mr. Scruff are finally getting some props. Oddly, Mr. Scruff is the only true downtempo DJ I saw on there (in a quick glance) and I still only see a few jungle DJs, breaks DJs, and Acid Jazz DJs with no hip-hop DJs, turntablists, UK Garage DJs (unless you count the Warriors), or hardcore DJs. While they may not be the most popular genres overall, I can rattle off a few DJs of each of those genres who are better DJs than some of the people in the top 30 (i.e. Rainer Truby, Doormouse, EZ, DJ Shadow), but like it was said it's a popularity contest.... goldenman
so since "testicles" is number 1; does this mean trance is back at the top?

Tiesticles is proof that evolution goes in reverse.Agreed- popularity contest, which is why, Brickhouse, the list is probably missing some DJ's that are very talented but not big names in the mainstream world. I would personally like to see the rankings done by someone other than a magazine, which has to worry about circulation, catering to a readership, etc. Like, maybe rankings put together by a panel of DJ's representing various countries and various genres?
