The entire 1/9 line was rebuilt from the WTC down to South Ferry. All new tracks and signals installed, and all stations renovated. Add to that the repair of other damaged stations around WTC. Then there's all those brand new trains on the 4/5/6 and L lines and lots more on the way.

That's where most of the money went, it seems. Before 9/11 that money was possibly going to be used to continue building the much-needed 2nd Ave. subway line which was started and abandoned like 75 years ago.

Terrorism sucks, yup. Maybe a $2.00 fare will help after all.
