FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

State-Side Productions and DCDNB.org proudly announce the grand opening of VOLUME at UP! Nightclub in Washington DC, January 4th, 2002. VOLUME will be the newest addition to the series of weekly EDM events being held at UP! Expect it to be another successful follow-up to the legendary Act Your Age and infamous Stereo parties of the past. With the involvement of DC drum and bass veteran, Harry Schrecengost (a.k.a. Ransom), and the man behind successful State-Side drum and bass events of the past, Jesse Tittsworth, VOLUME is a guaranteed sure shot to success!

VOLUME will be held every Saturday night and will showcase the very best in drum and bass talent, bringing in the finest international drum ‘n bass DJ talent, while showing support for DC’s local drum ‘n bass talent. The doors officially open on January 4th 2003.

January is the start of a new year, and VOLUME starts off with the DC debut of Gridlock, a top notch DJ and recording artist currently residing in San Francisco. Gridlock has previously released tracks and has forthcoming mixes on domestic labels Project 51 and Technorganic; and on UK labels Underfire, Zero Gravity, Urban Takeover, and Nerve. DJ Caz will represent the local talent opening night> Caz is one of the hardest working DJs in the local scene, and east coast rave circuit.

January 11th marks the return of local favorite and Metalheadz stalwart, DJ Storm. Easily recognized as one of the world’s top drum ’n bass DJs, Storm has always given DC an impressive performance, and tonight will set the pace for 2003. Opening up that night we have Whighzeguy (of Kind Bass Productions, promoters of local night Players Ball) + MC insurWRECKtionist (of Baltimore’s Syndrome Industries and resident at Sonar), both heavily involved in promoting the liquid funk, dance floor, and hip hop styled tunes.

The 18th is the eagerly awaited return of NYC’s Empress, who is promoting her mixed CD release Stateside Selections Vol. 2, out on Topaz Recordings. Her set at Stereo this past summer is still being talked about, and she is sure to bring one crate of rough and heavy tunes. Production trio Accela will be playing this night as well, promoting their imminent releases on DC’s OHM Resistance (“Lost Highway†b/w “Mephisto v2†– distributed by Nu Urban Music in the UK), LA’s Killahertz Recordings, and UK label Nerve Recordings (“Gangsta Boogie†featuring Killahertz label boss HoChi).

Closing out the month January 25th is an appearance by one of the UK’s brightest newcomers, DJ Friction. Recognized by the media as one to watch, this DJ/producer has an impressive discography, and the DJ skills to push him further in the global scene. Local DJ/producer mrn will be playing as well, a resident at the DC Skillz events and known for his broad selection of deep and sexy d’nb, and dance floor appeal.

UP! Nightclub and lounge is located at 1115 F St. NW Wash. DC (Between 11th & 12th streets). The club is a smaller venue, with one main room to showcase all talent, boasting an overlooking balcony, and raised dj booth. It is equipped with 20 foot ceilings, floating EAW surround sound with custom sub woofer bins built into the dance floor walls. VOLUME is 18 and up to party, 21 and up to drink with a valid government issued id. No dress code, party starts at 10, $7 at the door before 11, $10 after. Resident VOLUME DJ’s: Deinfamous, Phil Scott, Tittsworth, Ransom.
