sababa
Because of the whole religion issue, in order to commercialize the holiday without offending non-christians, they take out the christ and replace it with x....
kaleb
Sababa,I only joined this stupid site so I can correct your ignorance. The term x-mas is much older than the last centuries commercialism. The Greek letter Chi looks like an x and is used in spelling the first letter of the Greek word for Christ. The X also looks like a cross, symbolizing what Jesus died on. Mas is the old English word for holy day. The Catholics use a variant of this word: mass.
