dialectics
hi all,a really high up person (executive director) at the company i used to work for wrote me a really nice letter of reference for a new job. I may or may not get it, since 600 people are competing for only two spots. I want to thank them but will (thankfully) never see them again. Is flowers or a short letter appropriate? Or do i need to get her a more personal gift? Or just a quick e-mail back saying "thanx"?TIA,rob
tolyk
Thank you note will be very appropriate in this case. Good luck
Crackorn
I would say that the size of the gift ($-wise) would depend on whether or not the letter can be used for any interview or just for that one particular spot. A letter is a definite must. A box of chocolate or bottle of wine would be cool.
Twilo Beauty
A thank you letter will suffice. Make sure you mail it. It's much more personal than e-mail.-ilianaPs: a bottle of wine IS NOT appropriate. Especially if you weren't buddies with this person. It reads "Thanks for the recommendation. Wanna get drunk and fuck?"
dialectics
the letter was for a specific position, but it could be used in any case.thanks for the advice.... i think i'm going to go for the thank-you letter and some chocolate. and you're right, snail-mail is key!thanks, rob

xkingchangox
I actually send out a lot of Thank You notes to clients and business associates, What I would suggest is a hand written note and a Fancy Jam you can find them at almost all gourmet stores inthe city. Xpander
A nicely written thank you letter is fine. As for presents, save it for an occasion (IE, his birthday, anniversary, promotion, baby's birthday, etc.)He'll understand the sentiment just fine.
