Destiny Posted March 18 Report Posted March 18 opening presents at 12 midnight christmas morning, followed by a wrapping paper fight at christmas...which i avoid by running upstairstossing me around at every opportunity possible gathering since im the smallest in the familyi dont know how to spell it (its polish...its pronounced apoiatki...grr i need a polish person on this board that knows what im talking about) but on christmas we each get a wafer type thing and take a piece out of each family members and they take a piece out of ours and we say our wishes and hopes for that personi think thats it for traditions:confused: Quote
Mystify Posted March 18 Author Report Posted March 18 Okay, we've going down to LBI the first two weeks in July every year We have a 4th of July picnic @our shore houseMy mom gives me and my sister funky socks for every holiday (Christmas socks, New Years socks, V-day, Halloween, etc) And whenever my parents go away, we get socks from that place (Grand Canyon, Maine, etc) For Christmas and Thanksgiving dinner, my family always has a contest to see who got the most tortellinis in their bowl (we have soup for the first course)hmm I'll think of more a little later Quote

elementx Posted March 19 Report Posted March 19 It is my very own tradition to find an excuse to not visit my fathers side of the family each and every holiday... Quote
nSyNcBaBy Posted March 19 Report Posted March 19 every year since i was born, weve been going to my aunt connies house for xmas and eat some damn good lasagna lol- and for the past few years we started a new christmas tradition... we do a kris kringle (secret santa), between my cousins and aunts and uncles, instead of buying everyone a gift b/c theres just too damn many of us... whenever we have a big dinner on a sunday, its usually pasta and meatballs.. and the sauce cooks all day and the whole house smells yummmmwhenever my relatives are celebrating someones bday... we have a certain style of singing it... like.... reaaaally loud and hold out the last "TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YYYYYYYYYOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU" for as long as u can Quote

I like it so much better, bc everyone's always trying to guess who got who... it's fun Quote
hotbarbiedoll Posted March 24 Report Posted March 24 My mother has to bless everyone in the family ( or even my friends) with her rosary beads EVERY TIME we leave the house - never fails..I know there's more, so I'll get back another time.. Quote
eccentricmofo Posted March 24 Report Posted March 24 Well interestingly enough lbi has become part of a holiday tradition as well. I mean no matter where everyone is nor what they are doing during the holidays there is a MANDATORY christmas party at my momom's down @ the shore. Its hilarious, because every year there is always conflicting schedules and events etc. where as one group of cousins or kids for whatever reason cannot make it, hence a rescheduling until all can attend. LOL.. this past holiday for example, we did not have the christmas get together until the end of February...ha. And one year, yes, we even held off christmas until mid March due to my grandfather being in the hospital...that was interesting. Quote
ghhhhhost Posted March 24 Report Posted March 24 well me and my parents do this naked rain dance thing every memorial day...and then we start gravy fights..oh man the one we had this year was crazy..gravy everywhere. Quote

Very odd similarity in my family's Virginity lost party celebration. Everytime a family member looses his or her virginity we all meet up in a roller rink in south jersey, pay the owner a few hundred to lock up the doors... Get nude and have circle of "deflowerment" around whomever lost his/her virginity. After the skates are on, and the circle made, we (in a clockwise motion of course) throw bowls of gravy onto the honorary guest...but since we are italian, of course the gravy is what you call "spagetti sauce".... Its fun, but I must say I was scared when my great aunt finally lost her virginity.... I dont want to talk about it.. Quote
