mugwump
What would I do without music? I don’t know..probably turn into some psychotic mass murderer or something. Music offers me company, sympathyand inspiration when I’m feeling low. It’s as vital for me as air. When I’m sad I can throw on something like Massive’s new 100th Window and drink a bottle of wine and pretend the music is my therapy..When I’m feeling funky and ammped I’ll throw on something swanky like Tiga’s new DJ kicksand dance around the apt in my boxers and scare the shit out of my dog..On power walks and at the gym I’ll throw on some Techno…or I’ll get nostalgic with some good ol’ Gary Newman..Car drives fueled by Plump Djs..and moments in love with Aphex Twin’s more ambients softerside as a soundtrack in the sack..Yea I’m as eclectic in sounds as my moods areunstable..Here’s a short list that I’ve narrowed down to my top ten albumsthat are my CURRENT soundtrack for the spring to come..Feel free to jump in and give your list. It’s interesting to seewhat sounds are behind your minds..
mugwump
MUG'Z TOP TEN SOUNDTRACKS FOR HIS SPRING:1) Massive Attack’s "100th Window" (Great for downtiiiime..haunting and beautiful Like Mezzanine on prozac)2)Tiga’s DJ "Kicks"-K7.( Fun, swanky, sexy electro-clashy funk..brilliant!)3)DINKY "Black Cabaret"-Carpark (Amazing electro reworks of everything from Cabaret Voltaire, Madonna, Prince to banging techno by NY’s Drinklandvery own..Can’t wait to see her again at SONAR!)4) ADULT "Anxiety Always"-Ersatz Audio ( Fuzzy electro punk for us 30-somethin tragic "hipsters"stuck in the 80’s. An amazing follow up to the classic "Resuscitation")5)BEANS "Tomorrow right now"-Warp (Ex Antipop Consortium MC Beans lays down some sick old school rhymes that meet electro-funk. Very cool "leftfield" hip hop that only the WARP crew could dig up.)6)Gary Newman "The Pleasure principle"-Beggars Banquet(Ok I know all of you want to slap me and yell to stop with the 80’s revival crap. It’s bandwagon shit. Right? WRONG! I’ve had this bug in me for quite some many years and every season I dig up an old classic album and try and remember why I use to love its so much. Last year it was NEW ORDER..this year it’s Newman. "The Pleasure principle" is just a good fucking Synth-glam rock album and it’s timeless. By the time "Cars" busts on you’ll be pop and locking and doing the nerdy air synths even if you are the BIGGEST prog-house head in town)7) Shifted Phases "The cosmic memories of the late great Rupert Rosin Thorpe"-Tresor(A spaced out digital odyssey from James Stinson of Drexciya. Great for time traveling or background music while having sex with a hot android in space.)8) Aphex Twin’s "26 Mixes for Cash"-Warp(Classic b-sides and remixes on two CDs…Disk one’s trippier and more "ambient" with tracks ranging from Phillip glass, nine inch nailsto Saint Etienne..Disk two is chock full of Richard’s trade mark broken abstract beats and manic electronic shireks..Voodoo club, Curve, Meat Beat Manifesto DMX as well as Wagon Christ and more get the Aphex treatment)9) Head Quarters "Berlin"-Tresor (What can I say..It’s minimal techno. ..And it’s Tresor...Spooky..warped loops with a couple electro surprises..Man those Germans are fucked in the head! I love it!)10) Ken Ishii "Future in Light"-Exceptional ( Really great Techno from Japan always makes me seeimages of "anime" robots and big eyed girls with weird hair colors wearing school girl outfits all punching their fists in the air while neon signs light up with Japanese logos just as lasersshoot out of my head phones..err..or somethin. You get the picture)Runners up: Bent "The Everlasting Blink", Fabriclive09:Jaques Lu Cont, Royskop Melody a.m,Plump Dj’s " A plump night out" (Eagerly awaiting "Eargasm")

brickhouse
It's been a damn long time since there's been 10 albums I don't own on 12" that I've been rocking at the same time....Heck, I'm not sure there are even 10 top quality tracks I've heard come out this year yet.....Dec 2002 was super solid, but it's been pretty weak since then... Well ever since I bought decks here in RomeI spend most of my money on Vinyl as wellDan. The stuff I spin is KINDA like the stuff Ilisten to...but not really. I actualy spin way harder, darker shit from say "Dance floor Killers", "Music man","Things to Come" etc....But I do dabble in the occasionalelectro flash backs with all the usual suspects...I still need those CDs for the Smartcar rides and long walks though ANY ONE ELSE WILLING TO SHARE?
