In mid May, New York City’s Fetish and BDSM communities are uniting to present The NYC Fetish Marathon. This four-day non-stop festival of alternative sexuality will be anchored by both The Black & Blue Ball X, kicking things off on Thursday, May 15, and The Eulenspiegel Society’s 3 day kink extravaganza TESFEST, May 16 18. Many events, both large and small, will be happening all over the city during the weekend including around-the-clock dungeon access to NYC’s most famous public dungeon, PADDLES till the wee hours of Monday morning. The NYC Fetish Marathon poses the question in their advertising, “Do you have the stamina?†and frankly, what with everything that will be going on, we’re not so sure. The Eulenspiegel Society, aka TES, is the oldest and largest BDSM support group in the USA. During the day TESFEST will offer educational classes by leather community leaders such as Fetish Diva Midori, Lolita Wolf, author Laura Antoniou and Jack McGeorge on a wide variety of BDSM related subjects while vendors, including Purple Passion, DV8, The Baroness, DeTailsToys.com and more will sell their wares in the vending area. Each evening TESFEST will transform into a huge private dungeon where convention goers will be able to play in a safe and friendly atmosphere while Paddles, Manhattan’s largest dungeon, has been rented to accommodate overflow as well as for 24 hour access, so those with endless amounts of energy can actually play at any time during the entire 4 day affair. This year marks the tenth anniversary of The Black & Blue Ball, Arena Productions’ now-legendary annual fetish extravaganza. Produced and hostessed by Mistress Carrie and Leda, The Ball has grown from the original intimate evening of BDSM performance to a three-floor, multi-stage extravaganza. Their theme this year, The Alchemist’s Glass, will incorporate opera singers from The Met, composers and musicians, performing classical selections such as Wagner’s Die Gotterdammerung and Die Niebelung fused with the concepts of Goethe’s Faust and the left hand path. With costumed Valkyries and Mephistopheles, the evening will take on a dark ambience that should appeal not only to discerning fetishists in search of mature, cerebral entertainment, but the younger vampyre and Goth communities as well.
