Ford's luxury brands in chaos

Recommended Posts

according to CAR magazine, Ford is cutting funding to its Premier Automotive Group (lincoln, jaguar, land rover, aston martin, and volvo)

Ford is planning to consolidate most of the jaguar, volvo, and land rover lines onto 4 platforms.

the first platform will be used for the Focus, the Ford Fusion, the Mazda 3, and for Volvo S40/V50/V30 (golf competitor)/C50 (entry level coupe)

the second platform will be used for the Ford Mondeo, Mazda 6, Mazda Tribute, Ford Escape, Volvo S60, Volvo V70, Land Rover Freelander, Volvo XC50 (mid size SUV) and the Jaguar X-Type.....:what::worry:

the third platform will be for some yet unannounced micro-cars

the fourth platform will be for the Volvo S80 and the Jaguar S-Type

ford also plans to turn the Land Rover Discovery into a derivative of the Explorer, and to use Volvo engines in future Jaguars

can someone say clusterfuck?

Clusterfuck.

Ford really just needs to wipe the slate clean. Get rid of all their current designs, decentralize their platforms and go out and make like three or four REAL cars. Small, Midsize, Large and a sports car or two. None of this "sharing the chassis" crap between five or six different platforms. You aren't fooling anybody by marketing the Mercury line as its own line. They should scrap that line altogether.

Each vehicle should be unique. They can share similar parts but stupid shit like the Ford Escape versus the Ford Expedition versus the Ford Explorer... c'mon they're all the same. Just larger versions of the previous one. Same deal with the cars.

COME UP WITH SOMETHING ORIGINAL, YOU INJECTION MOLDED PLASTIC CHEAP MATERIAL BIG DOOFY ROUND BODYSTILE AMERICAN SHITHEADS.

Make a couple SUV's, large and small, Maybe four different car models and a few trucks.

And that's it. Their current lineup is so fragmented they can't hope to sustain it. Their subsidies are also struggling with boring designs that few people care about anymore.

THe only decent one is Mazda... and that's because theyre sticking to their guns and not letting ford dilute their japanese flavor.
