civic vs. cav

Recommended Posts

oK... this is gonna be very vague but i jus want opinions (and some info) as to which is a "better" car. I need a new hobby and so i thought iD start a project with either of these cuz they are relatively cheap to buy. So ne ways, i was jus wonderin which of the two is better -- which are the best models, year, etc. Also, parts wise -- which is cheaper to either repair or hook up; engine type, etc. Thanx for all the help in advance :D

You have a better chance at speed, price, reliability, and amount of parts with the Civic. That also means that you will have what is sometimes (but not always) affectionately called a "me too".

Are you buying new or used?

Define "hookup" for us. All show no go? Or serious power/suspension mods. Maybe both.

Tell us what your final goal is. Putting all the details aside i'd go with a Civic. Get the new Si hatchback, its relatively quick. I'd stay away from cheap american cars.

...well... im relatively new to the whole "hooked up" car scene... still learning as to what's what -- first i def wanna go with more power, i hate cars that make all that noise, yet my friends 94 ford taurus can shit on em. Then imma worry about looks -- kits, lights & all that other fancy shit. Basically i jus wanted to know which is a better choice, i know that every1 and their mom seems to have a civic, but i think it might be fun to have something to do; do something different rather than just putting a kit on it & saying its "hooked up."

final product.... something along these lines....

civics are inexpensive, easy to mod, and have a TON of aftermarket... just do something unique, and hold back on the rice, and you'll be fine...

plus you can get all kinds of cool JDM shit... talk to atommicapples, hes our resident JDM townwhore... and he knows alot about that stuff...

civics have much better reseale value, last forever, and are mch safer than the cavalier in an accident. however, a cavalier has more power and would be more likely to have ABS.

have you thought of a Golf, Tiburon, or 200SX? whats your budget?

My suggestion though, you really dont need all that much shit to make your car flashy like that. Depends on what kind of look you are going after. I myself prefer a more suble and streamlined look.

checkout dsmtrader.com

you can find a early 90s eclipse GSX (turbo/awd) for like 2g... plus they're VERY reliable, even modded...

IMO they're the best bang for the buck...
