:: Friday June 13 :: ALEX HALL (Marscruiser) ::

Recommended Posts

On Friday, June 13, the ::TRUE:: party is joined by very special guest Alex Hall of Marscruiser, along with residents deviant and Jay Schamberg.

The land of beer and cheese would seem the least likely place to find musical talent in the electronic music department. The state has been know for some of it’s rock stars: Violent Femmes, Garbage, and the BoDeans. But techno? You’ve got to be kidding!

And yet here comes along a man from Wisconsin with 10 years of DJ experience looking to change a few minds and turn a few heads. Alex Hall is part of the production duo known as Marscruiser. He has had tracks appear on Fire Recordings in the UK, SHR/Sunrise in Chicago, Max Music in Florida, and Barely There Records in Wisconsin. That’s right, a techno label from Wisconsin. And his story doesn’t stop there. His tracks have been played by John Digweed, Hybrid, Lee Burridge, and Cass all over the globe, including Radio 1 and KISS FM in London. You’d think the damn cheeseheads would be happy enough there.

But there is more to this story. His most recent work was with the infamous George Clinton, as well as renowned breaks producer Andy Page from Australia. His productions have also been in the charts of Chris Fortier, D:Fuse, and Markus Schulz.

His dark progressive DJ style is cutting edge and his sets are always full of surprises, mixing in a bit of breakbeat and house here and there, always moving the crowd. His sets have appeared on XM Radio and 93.7 in Chicago.

On top of all of this, he still finds time to write interviews and articles for ResidentAdvisor.com, based in Australia, and promote for Spundae Chicago. Now that’s a labor of love if I ever saw one.
