What kind of scene? That weekend (August 1-2) we'll be bringing in Chloe Harris from Progressive Sounds (http://www.progressive-sounds.com) and ProtonRadio fame (http://www.protonradio.com) to play at Abbasso. Uuhhhmmm...last we checked, progressive house was house. I certainly wouldn't rule out Chloe Harris as being too "trance."As far as we know there are only two trendy places in town that don't require a dress code, one of which are our parties at Abbasso Lounge, and Touch, which hosts Salsa parties on Friday and house, dub and hip-hop parties on Saturdays. By "no dress code" I mean that women don't have to suffer through a night in pointy-toed, heeled shoes, and the men can feel comfortable in a t-shirt. Folks here seem to get very very dressed up...This weekend I saw a lot sequin-adorned skirts and a lot of rhinestones roaming the sidewalks where most of the jazz house lounges are on W6th Street in the entertainment district. Everybody has different definitions of "cheesey..." I'd hate to tell you to avoid those areas if that's your thing, but for us, it's a little cheesy.
