Frist also says a Supreme Court ruling on gay sex threatens to turn the home into a place where criminal activity is condoned. The Supreme Court last week threw out a Texas law that prohibited acts of sodomy between homosexuals in a private home. The court says the Texas law violated the defendants' privacy rights under the Constitution. The ruling invalidated the Texas law and similar statutes in 12 other states. Speaking on ABC's "This Week," Frist says he's concerned that legalizing gay sex could lead to such activities as prostitution and drug use being allowed "in this zone of privacy." The Tennessee Republican says he would "absolutely" support a constitutional amendment that would ban any marriage in the United States except a union of a man and a woman. Such an amendment has been introduced in the House. Gay Pride Events Celebrate RulingThe Supreme Court's ruling striking down laws against gay sex made annual Gay Pride parades more jubilant this weekend. In New York, Atlanta, Seattle, San Francisco and other cities, hundreds of thousands of people marched, danced and carried banners thanking the high court for Thursday's historic decision. Organizers of the Atlanta Pride Festival said they were expecting a record crowd and pointed to the Supreme Court ruling as a factor in the big turnout. Marchers in Orlando, Fla., carried a simple sign reading: "We are legal." And, in San Francisco, one of two candidates vying to become the city's first gay mayor this year joked that, "It looks like Sandra Day O'Connor watching 'Will and Grace' really paid off."
