Jason Varitek & Geoff Jenkins = All-Stars

How did Roger Clemens not make the All-Star team? Leads the league in strike outs, won his 300th game, and is in his last season. Baseball is so stupid for not selecting him. Gwynn and Ripken had "honorary" slots in their last year. Here Clemens, who deserves a spot, is screwed over.

Yes he did get screwed.. and some people are complaining that Palmiero and Sosa aren't all-stars..

Some argue that the all-star game should celebrate career accomplishments as well as season success..

I think one of the big reasons he might not have been selected is because this year, the all-star game has more importance: home field advantage in the World Series. I've heard several sports commentators mention how they believe the all-stars were picked based on a little different criteria than normal.

Now although Roger Clemens is still an excellent pitcher.. guys like Loaiza, Halladay and Mulder and Zito, etc.. are pitching much better and with greater success this season and were selected over him.

and that would explain armando benitez? :shaky::confused:

maybe it's all a plot for the AL to have home field advantadge in the WS...:shaky:

bring in benitez in the 9th with a 10 run lead and have blow it :shaky:

And believe it or not, Benitez has 21 saves despite his blown ones..

And that's 6th in the NL.. and only 2 less than Wagner..

i need to check the major league leaders in saves and look up his stats. i wonder if they have a stat on blown saves?
