copahc Posted August 5 Report Share Posted August 5 Ok, I really need to bitch about clubs for a minute. As most of you knew, I’m from CT. I’m from the south-western part near RI. So one of my biggest gripes with this area is the total LACK of nightlife. It fucking sucks! There are no clubs anywhere near me. The closest places are Providence and New Haven, each one an hour away which sucks when they close at 1 or 2 am every night and someone has to be sober enough to drive back home Anything that is actually near me, that is any semblence of a club, is really cheesy. For example, there’s Flashbacks (need I say more), Glow ( a tiny club that actually plays decent music, but my friends refuse to go there because they are convinced it’s a gay bar, and there’s NEVER anyone in there). We also have the casinos. They have mostly lounges. Foxwoods actually has a halfway decent club, BB Kings, which has some good music sometimes and a pretty decent crowd, and hot dancers. So I give them credit, because they are trying. So recently, the other casino, Mohegan Sun, which by the way is pretty awesome, opened up a new night club.. They were building it forever, and I heard all kinds of things about it, like some famous club designer was building it, and they were going to only play techno/house music, it was going to be upscale etc. I was pretty excited about it because they did such a nice job with the casino, I was expecting something to really blow me away. So last Saturday I finally went to check it out.OK… So first of all, I thought it would actually be big. But the fucking dance floor was like the size of my bedroom. So needless to say it was packed and it was a total sweat factory. And then when I get there they are playing hip hop. WTF. Now I have no problem with hip hop, and dancing to it, but I can hear it at any bar, So I was a little pissed off that this place was no different. Which brings me to the music… They did not play one dance/techno track the entire night that wasn’t at least 5 years old! That’s fucking Connecticut for you. You don’t here anything in a club that isn’t played on the radio 24/7. I mean, the DJ looked bored and pissed off. Like someone gave him a CD and said “here, play this, this is what the crowd likes.†So to end this perfect night…. The DJ started spinning ‘Sandstorm’, and that’s when I had to leave. … at 1 a.m.I think I have finally given up Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
