rackham
There was a question about the "fat burning" zone a few days ago, which went unanswered. The "fat burning zone" is generally considered the exercise intensity (measured by heart rate) at which the greatest percentage of calories burned comes from fat oxidation.HOWEVER, at greater intensity, you will be burning more calories total. Also, burning glycogen during exercise means that you're more likely to burn fat as fuel later in the day.So, even if the *percentage* of calories burned from fat during exercise is lower at higher intensity, the overall amount of fat burned throughout the day will be higher. The moral of the story is that people seeking to lose fat should find a form of high-intensity exercise that burns lots of calories (e.g. interval training), rather than spend hours on the treadmill. elitesnautica
Twice in one day. It must be a record.I had a friend, just the other day show me his new heart monitor. He was so proud of it. He said he could workout and stay in his fat burning zone the entire time.I didn't even have the heart to say anything.Nautica

Great thread, and very good point. People can also try of the Evan diet, which is the consumption of a near-deadly amount of various illicit drugs coupled with a dedicated regimen of anal sex with a transvestite. tommyarmani
This is exactly why marathon runners who perform long periods of low intensity exercise are not particulary ripped/lean compared to Sprinters who perform short periods of High intensity exercise and are very cut.
