It makes little sense to build these cars with no expectation of selling them in America. There has got to be a reason:

3. if they do pass american safety standards the cars aren't in a exotic or super performance class anymore

5. simply cant' compete with the z06, cobra, SS F bodies, viper and the current crop of imports....

You know, there are lots of reasons why cars aren't legal in America. In fact, America usually gets the watered down versions of sports cars that the rest of the world enjoys, becuase we put so much bureaucratic red tape on street legality, that no pure supercar could hope to pass DOT standards without having its abilities seriously compromised.

So some companies realize that it's not worth the expense to refurbish models to sell here, so they don't bother. Some countries just don't want to compromise a pure performance machine just so some slob fucker in america can buy it and show off how rich he is and never USE it or bring prestige to its racing pedigree.

Add to that the fact that the average american like yourself, is just SO educated about automotive performance and SO open minded to anything that doesn't have a chevy smallblock in it.

I'm glad the EVO, WRX, STi, Neon SRT-4 and other cars are finally out and establishing their reputations. Maybe dickheads like you will come out of the dark ages and realize that a V8 upfront and 220+ top speeds aren't the end-all to making a high performance sports car.

u know, the rest of the world drives on the other side of the road. Even with the steering wheel on the other side, i'll put the ergonomics of any japanese sports car up against any american car. There is NOTHING impressive about american ergo.

as for speed - dude, you DO know stock skyline GTR's pack around 327 hp [285 rated] and run ET's around 12.8, right?

An exhaust, intake and boost controller give them low 12's with ease... which is nice, considering the car was designed primarily for roadracing, not for drag.
