Ãœberzone is the brainchild of southern California native Q (named after the "gizmo" -loving James Bond character). Like his namesake, Q is a die-hard collector of all things electronic, and has been collecting electronic-music gear since his early teens.

His early singles, "Botz" and "The Freaks", released on taste-maker indie dance label City of Angels, were critically acclaimed club tracks that established Q as one of the leading American producers of breakbeat music. His remixes of Sarah McLachlan, The Crystal Method and BT also established him as one of the biggest names in the American dance scene. Spin Magazine named Uberzone as one of the six producers to create "the biggest beats ever."

With loads of new talent coming up in the scene it can be hard to keep track of who's who and what's what. Then along comes someone like the 23 year-old Baron who completely smoked the competition and rose above the crowd effortlessly and instantly. To date, this Oxford breakthrough has released music on heavy-hitting labels such as L-Plates, Commercial Suicide, Advanced/CIA, Phuturo, and TOV, to name a few. His DJing schedule has been picking up at a steady rate, and he plans to settle on a label of his own, Baron Incorporated.

FRIDAY, OCT. 17, 2003: BUZZLIFE DECENNIAL BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

10 years ago, in the era of Clinton, Marion Barry and Kurt Cobain, the cornerstone of DC’s EDM scene was precariously placed at a dive called the Eastside. Compacted over time, the spreading influence of un-commercialized dance music and the open-minded atmosphere at Buzzlife events altered DC nightlife irrevocably. The journey still has its share of bumps and bruises, but the recollection of great friendships, generation-defining anthems and the promise of more to come pushes us forward. A heartfelt thank you to the many thousands of believers over ten chaotic years. In an insane world of Big Brother politics, economic extremes and musical tugs-of-war (trance vs. drum ‘n’ bass vs. house vs. techno...), your weekly support and constructive criticism inspires us and keeps us sane — somewhat.... LOL!

FRIDAY, OCT. 24, 2003: REVENGE OF THE SCUMFROG [ re-scheduled from 09.19 ]

Dutch DJ, the Scumfrog, is well known for his brilliant remixes of Dirty Vegas’ “Days Gone By†and Kylie Minogue’s “Love at First Sight†-- a Scott Henry favorite in 2002. Scumfrog’s biggest fans include some of the world’s most respected DJ’s: Danny Tenaglia, Roger Sanchez and Pete Tong.

As one of the Liberator “brothersâ€, Aaron, (like label-mates Chris and Julian) regularly plays across the UK, Europe and beyond; however, they are still to be found playing at illegal parties in London most weekends. Aaron's style of music covers everything from underground techy house to hard techno, whilst keeping it funky and trippy with a freestyle attitude.

UPSTAIRS at ALIAS :: with the arrival of colder weather, ALIAS events now will be in the upstairs lounge, above Nation’s side entrance and main bathrooms, effective this week. The Rubik Room, as it is known on Fridays, has a separate soundsystem, a wood dancefloor donated by Alchemy, its own bar and LOTS of plush furniture formerly at Café Asia in Baltimore. Possibly the most intimate spot in the club, the Rubik Room provides the atmosphere of a lounge but with the option of the larger nightclub experience just downstairs.

Remember Alias@the Studio in NoVa? Same warm, sociable aura but placed inside Nation nightclub. Truly a ‘World Within a World.’
