(AP) - Rodney King has been arrested for allegedly punching his girlfriend, less than two months after he was sentenced for driving under the influence. King, whose videotaped beating by police officers sparked the Los Angeles riots of 1992, was booked for investigation of domestic violence on Saturday and released Monday on $50,000 bail, a records clerk at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga said. King's girlfriend called police Saturday and said he punched her in the stomach and tried to choke her during an argument that began the previous night, Rialto police Sgt. Shawn O'Connell said. King, 38, of Rialto, was pulled over and beaten by officers in 1991. After a jury acquitted the officers the following year, riots broke out across Los Angeles, leaving 55 people dead, more than 2,000 injured and $1 billion in property damage.
