Heres from a page about how it is contracted..The most common ways to contract Hepatitis C are:Sharing of drug needles Mother to Child (being born to a mother with hepatitis C) Tattoo or body piercing with unsterilized, dirty tools Blood transfusion or organ transplant prior to1992 (Before 1992, doctors could not check blood for hepatitis C)Less likely (but still possible) ways to contract Hepatitis C:Engaging in sex with an infected person, especially if you or your partner has other sexually transmitted diseases Sharing a toothbrush or razor with an infected person (due to the chance of bleeding gums) This disease is much different from the HIV virus, which is spread readily through sexual intercourse. Sexual partners of those who have hepatitis C are actually at a very low risk of contracting the disease in that manner (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).
