Former five-time champion Felix Trinidad may be making plans for a comeback -- or at least promoter Don King hopes so.

The 30-year-old Trinidad reportedly told King at a fight card in Atlantic City last month that he wanted to come out of retirement, though nothing has been said officially.

"It looks good, and I'm hoping and praying he returns", King told USA Today.

Trinidad, who won titles as a welterweight, junior middleweight and middleweight, suffered his only loss when Bernard Hopkins stopped him for the undisputed middleweight crown in September 2001.

He fought only once after that, stopping Hacine Cherifi in the fourth round in his native Puerto Rico, then announced his retirement in July 2002.

Trinidad's possible comeback will be of great interest to one of his neighbors, Oscar De La Hoya, who lost a controversial decision to Trinidad in 1999 and has said a rematch is one fight he must have before he retires.

De La Hoya, who lives in Puerto Rico about five minutes away from Trinidad, has said he will talk to Trinidad about a rematch of their welterweight unification bout -- the highest grossing non-heavyweight match ever.

"Oscar is back in Puerto Rico and will try to talk to him to see where he stands," said Richard Schaefer, De La Hoya's business manager. "It's the fight Oscar wants and the public wants."
