Peter Bailey hails from Staten Island NY where he has been involved in the dance music scene for over ten years. He started as a DJ playing everything from hip hop to freestyle at junior high school parties. But when the techno and acid house surge hit America Peter dove in head first and landed himself gigs all around NYC, he's even had the experience of playing at one of Frankie Bones legendary Storm Raves. These early DJing experiences had him playing along side techno heavy weights such as Joey Beltram, Kevin Saunderson, Sven Vath and Jeff Mills. There is no denying that this is quite an accomplishment for anyone, let alone a 16 year old.

Clearly on a roll at such a young age, Peter maintained a steady pace on the dance scene. Peter was always well-versed in the area of dance music from his early stages as a DJ playing hip hop and freestyle records to his most recent interest in techno & acid house. But it wasn't until the moment he stepped foot onto the dancfloor of the legendary Sound Factory that an indelible impression on Peter was left which cemented his desire to flourish in the music industry. Listening to DJs like Junior Vasquez, Danny Tenaglia and Louie Vega was as enjoyable as it was a learning experience. The style of such DJs led Peter to explore a whole new frontier in dance music in the hottest spot in New York City and arguably the world. This was clearly a turning point for Peter.

Drawing from the creativity exhibited at Sound Factory and Sound Factory Bar, Peter had the idea to explore the production side of the business and his work ethic would almost guarantee success. He was able to hone in the skills he obtained over the years by listening, observing and practicing the music he has grown to love. He began to produce records in 1998 and hasn't looked back since. Track after track, his music has began to receive accolades from the likes of Steve Lawler, John Digweed, Saeed & Palash, Oscar G., Tom Stephan, Roger Sanchez, Victor Calderone, Peace Division, Chris Fortier, DJ Vibe etc. His productions have included his original highly acclaimed track “U Need it†which caught the attention of Steve Lawler, who developed a serious interest in Peter and immediately signed him to his new label, Harlem Records for a three record deal. This single has been featured on over a dozen mixed compilations for various labels like Cream, React, Warner, and Perfecto to name a few.

Preceding the success of “U Need it†Peter began to receive numerous remix offers. Almost immediately his production skills scored two #1 remixes on the Billboard Dance Charts. As the road to success became a heavily traveled one for Peter he then closed deals to produce remixes for respected labels such as Tommy Boy, Bedrock, Fuju and Star 69. Currently in production, Peter will soon release originals on labels like Addictive, Alternative Route and of course Harlem Records.

It wasn’t too long before his accomplishments began to deliver guest spots for him at premier clubs in the international arena in countries in Eastern Europe to South America. Peter Bailey has began to reap the benefits of his hard work by making many appearances in a variety of such venues, both domestic and foreign, when he decided to take his ideas to the next level.

Never one for selling himself short, Peter decided to start his own record label, Ensoul Records with close friend and fellow producer Mike Macaluso in order to push the boundaries of the independent dance label market in NY. Ensoul has caught the attention of some of the world’s biggest DJs and is certainly a label to watch out for. And things seem to be off to a good start with their first batch of releases landing themselves on compilations for Steve Lawler, Peter Rauhofer, Louis Osbourne and Oscar G.

Through his own production work, DJ gigs and strong desire to bring quality house music to the masses, Peter Bailey is undoubtedly rising to the high ranks of the dance music scene.
